Good point.

| Cuthbo has a British passport I think. So he doesnt count on OQ. Only NFT.
I believe with Tui and Parcell gone and Lui arriving we currently have 3 OQ and 6 NFT. So that leaves one spot for an OQ NFT player.

That is correct. Cuthbertson, Peteru and Hurrell only count as NFT.

| Isn't Peteru OQ and NFT because he was born in NZ so that means we only have one OQ spot and NFT spot left
OQ
Merrin
Peteru
Seamanufagai
Lui
NFT
Hurrell
Cuthbertson
Merrin
Peteru
Seamanufagai
Albert doesn't count as either this season.

His parents are from Samoa and Cook Islands so he has a passport from a kolpak nation, meaning only NFT.

| Back on Topic for a moment Ian Watson`s thoughts :--
`“I do feel saddened by him leaving us here at the club, but he will do well over at Leeds and he’s doing what’s best for his family. I wish him and his family all the best and happiness in the future.”
Those among you who had a go over the last few days should note this comment - he is a very, very good player. Up to Myler now to deliver a service.

Seems very popular amongst the players too - maybe we’ve got ourselves a good one there. He looks pretty physical too and hopefully can defend.
I think Myler’s got to go now. The club has signalled intent with signing two new halves - if you were the existing senior half you’d see a message in that.
Whether he finds another club for 2020 or battles it out with us remains to be seen but his future lies elsewhere.
It’s quite significant this signing. It has facilitated Tui leaving. It gives us much greater threat from the halves (and less weakness). It also pushes Sutcliffe out to battle with better back rowers than him, unless he shifts Myler for his goal kicking ability. Either way one of Myler or Sutcliffe should drop out of the 17 IMO, or certainly the starting side.

| Jackson Hastings on Lui
"Rugby League man. What a crazy game, Owe a lot to this guy honestly helped me more then he’d even know. So naturally gifted it’s not even funny, All the best to you and your family brother it’s been an absolute pleasure! I’d say Salford’s best ever. "
I think people are maybe underestimating Lui, I hope so anyway

Don't suppose he added "In fact I'm so keen to continue to learn from him and play with him that I'm going to commit my future to Leeds without an NRL get out clause"?

No but plenty of needy Leeds fans asking him to on SM!
There is still a chance but Leeds are going to have to pull their socks up and fight out of the relegation zone first, that's the reality.
We do that, we suddenly become a very desirable place for players to come with our stadium, fan base and talent coming through the juniors.

He's being underestimated because he plays for Salford and like it or loathe it fans of the big 4 inherently look down on us. Lui is a cracking player and one of the best defensive halves in the league for me.
As for Hastings, I'm not sure he'd sign for Leeds. He's openly stated his desire to go back to the NRL after next season so (unless you offer him stupid money) I can only see him moving elsewhere in SL for a genuine chance of silverware. With all due respect Leeds ain't gonna be challenging for silverware next year (unless you count the Championship shield as silverware? ).
If anywhere it'll be Wigan but I hope he sees the potential in the squad Watson is pulling together for next season and gives us another year. Despite our $hit crowds etc he has a genuine affinity with the Salford fans as well not forgetting living and playing alongside his best mate Joey Lussick.

2 more signings, or thereabouts, and Leeds would have as good a chance of silverware next year as Wigan certainly. We're losing another chunk of salary cap for 2020 and there will be more signings.
Good to hear Lui is a solid defender.
There might be something in what you say re. Salford's perception - but then again we signed Keith Senior from Sheffield Eagles and everyone was pretty keen.
It's a shame but I think the reality is that Salford as a club need to cash in some assets. If Leeds are willing to pay a fee for Hastings this year and Wigan aren't, that could have some bearing.
Or, as you say, he might decide to stay with Salford for another year or two. Problem is there is no guarantee an NRL opportunity is going to come up for him either way - the standard of halves over there is way higher than SL in general.

I would take the comment from Salford fans about Lui a good defender with a pinch of salt. We have seen plenty of matches with him, and I would say he is a very long way from being a good defender. Infact I would not be surprised in the slightest if his stats were not much different to someone like Myler from a defensive point of view. Of course in the large half backs are your weakest link in the defensive line, and hence why they are pushed out wide, and why the oppossition run at them often to tire them out.
I am not saying that makes the signing any less or more worthwhile, but I doubt you will see a good defender in that shirt from Lui.
