| I recalled Noble (from memory) saying he didn't select Sinfield in 2004 after the player had intimated which position he wished to be considered for or words to that effect.
Sounds like something the coach of an International side might have said to me even if not to you.

| Just saying TVOC given Sinfields selection at 6 ,13 AND 9 for England not once has he mentioned he'd only want to play in 1 position and always seems to approach selcetion at that level as "anything for the team" so what gives you the impression as still a pretty young RL player/captain in 04 he'd make such demands on the then GB boss?

icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.:icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg |

There is only so many times you can go to well - players like Sinfield and Peacock need a different kind of support as they approach the end of their careers. Leeds have been lucky that neither have suffered much injury over the past two years.

I was just recalling what I thought I'd seen Noble say at the time. I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition.
For what it's worth I imagine Sinfield's response was dignified and measured probably something like“It is the end of a long season and I am fairly rugby’d-out. I need a rest - but I can’t wait for next season. Things like this are just going to fuel the fire for next year. I am going to come back bigger, better, stronger and fitter. I will have a full pre-season with the boys and I’ll get some good work done with the coaching staff and next year is going to be a big one for me. At least I can be fully focused on that from now on.”[/i

Indeed. Sinfield takes plenty of punishment and must be made of granite.
Ward might have to wait a rather long time to usurp the team's undoubted rock. (Singleton probably less to take Peacock's crown: one more season maybe ?)

We're lucky neither of them have suffered a serious knee injury in the last 2 years.

| The quote in the Guardian article appears to be from Sinfield, if its the one about the need to rotate the squad and not being happy with 5th?
Interesting that GH looked at Widdopp. Bit of an odd one if it had come off. He can play full back, but is starting to look the goods at stand off. He could play centre but I doubt he'd want to. The only take I can make is that they started discussions with him ages ago with a view to being Webb's replacement before it became clear that Hardaker has the goods at full back?
Injuries aside the only position 1-7 that makes any sense to look at is left centre, but given that Ablett's solid enough there I wouldn't be bothered if we didn't sign another centre. I'd rather we move heaven and earth (i.e. GH's wallet) and got hold of a line-breaking forward.

Peter Smith of YEP knew nothing of Widdop story in the Guardian. Going to ask GH about it

| It appears Lunt has put his cards on the table and spoke to sky about his wish to stay at Leeds.
Interesting that he says hopes his manager and GH can sort a deal out, would that mean a deal or release from hudds has already been secured. Doesn't look like mcshane will be with us next year

I love playing for him. I can't praise him enough, I've so much respect for him and I hope he's here for a very long time." Kevin Sinfield 29/9/12:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_68506.jpg |

I think this is spot on. And there's no mad rush with the forward - our existing pack handled Warrington's (and Manly's) just fine. When it mattered.

| Achurch isn't a bad start to strengthening the pack.

982.jpg [quote:1pqtnbtj]Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.[/quote:1pqtnbtj]

I think you can go to the well at least 6 times every nine years.
Sinfield and Peacock have gotten better as the season has progressed and saved their best for when it is most important. They are the opposite of a flat track bully.
I'd suggest we milk them for all they're worth.
As Kevin's game has hardly ever been based upon pace I see no reason why he couldn't go on at this level well into his mid 30s.

| I was thinking more towards the mid 40's but he'll probably be the official coach by then rather than just the unofficial one.

As they get older the less able their body will be to take the constant punishment they are getting - 40 games a year is a huge workload. This is about protecting you key assets for as long as possible.
Flogging them mercilessly seems unfair given what they have given to the team - but then we always have and always will have differing opinions.
