My squad for 2012 listed earlier was largely tongue in cheek.....but it was meant to convey my feelings that we should be giving the young UK based players much more priority.

If they are young enough and fill some gaps at a better quality level then sign the Aussie and NZ-ers ..... But please .... No more Cross dross.

He is really enjoying life out there, but not long term from what I've heard.

It has always been their intention to educate the child in England so when it gets to 3 or 4 they'll be heading back. Just wondered when that was and how it tied in with his contract.

Edit - Obviously I appreciate that things change. They may well be more settled 6 months on, but at the time (Oct '10) their intention was to return for child to attend school.

What does it matter to us. He'll be joining Warrington when he returns anyway.

Surely we'd have first dibs? Gareth seems a loyal chap. Besides which... if he's moving back for support of the Grandparents and schooling, he'll want to live in Leeds anyway! Why would anybody want to educate their child in Warrington!?

I've often heard that said on the terraces of Belle Vue and Headingley (not that I blame him for moving on) and he does it the right way.

Point taken. He certainly does go about it the right way though. Never seems to drop anybody in the muck, and makes his intentions clear and leaves on good terms.

Which is why I've no doubts at all he'll return to England to educate his son as he told his father-in-law he'd do. Although as I've mentioned, he'll be 33 at the time, so if he wants to have his twilight (in RL terms) years playing for his home town club, and swapping one set of Tigers for another, then fair play to the lad.

Couple of years too late if it is, he'll be 32 at the end of this season.

Around 2009 I thought he was one of the best props in the competition, not sure he's still at that level.
