This whole selection of Handley idea HAS to stop.

I'd rather get Newman or Sutcliffe starting until Watkins is back.

I'd agree he's just about there physically - probably has more punch than any other prop at the club at 20 years old - but he needs to work a bit more on his overall game for me. Deffo needs experience around him at this stage in his career.
What I mean is, the whole mighty Leeds club's go-forward shouldn't rest on a 20 year old lad.

agree, people need to realise the expression if your good enough your old enough does not wash nowadays, even back in the days, not every one is a Gary Schofield or lee crooks being full blown internationals at 18-19 or more recent Adrian Morley and some extent Sam Burgess players need a bit more drip feeding specially the forwards, think even Sam Burgess would be held back a bit nowadays and used a bit more sparingly, he was nearly burned out finished a couple of years ago.
That said i think he is not far off being good enough now and certainly expect him to be given heavy rotation this year and next season to really push on.

If the coach thinks Handley is the best choice to start the season at centre based on training and performance in preseason then so be it, get behind the player, and the coach. Sorry if this seems a bit blunt, but the coaching staff will pick who they think is best, not who will appease the fans the most. Newman may be a super star in a few years but if the coach does not think he is ready yet and Handley is a better choice at this time, then Handley plays.

Golding injured or not selected?

No mention of him screams out to me. I reckon they’ll be making a deal for him to go out. Possibly Bradford.

If he was going out, it would surely more likely be Featherstone on dual reg? that way they have an easy recall.

Never saw him as a winger anyway, and never understood why people kept putting him their in opinion teams, but as for this Friday from that squad the wingers pick themselves, looks like Newman and Handley. Unless they are keeping Watkins out of too much contact and put him on the wing.

No Mullally Walters or Golding. Read into that what you will.

Golding has been named in the Featherstone squad for the Halifax pre-season friendly, as have Mullally, Walters and Ormondroyd. I do think there will be more occasions this year where we (Fev) play 3 or 4 on DR, given Leeds have a significantly larger squad than the last couple of years and we are running on a lower budget than previous years.

We have a glaring gap at full back (rumour is Jordan Tansey was released after his 6-week trial, and the next likely incumbent is Kiedan Hartley, who has done pretty well so far but is obviously very inexperienced) and Golding would be pretty handy for us if he isn't required by Leeds.

I would have thought Golding would have ambitions in SL to be honest, but more time at full back at Fev might be a good move for now.
