Check your history, Rugby League didn't begin in 2005.

Given that every team you posted is a mix of players from different era's it's just YOUR opinion and not FACT!!

What makes you think that any Leeds fan is bothered about a Wigan born team of your choosing?

Well as you know, I do post on here occasionally to educate. I've generally over the years had a great rapport with Leeds Rugby League supporters.

But it appears the standards are slipping at your club, in that many of your "supporters" don't appear to know who was born where.

I was merely "educating" them as to what a "real" team of home grown players should look like.

And with that I would like to wish you and all your family a very Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.

I shall be in the Leeds supporters club in July when I'm sure you would love to buy me a beer.

I have to say I admire your knowledge on Wigan rugby league. So thank you for joining the debate and making it a meaningful one. The reason why I struggled is because I hardily know anything about the past players of Leeds. But hopefully someone (a Leeds fan) will come along with a serious debate to contest your claims without dictating that the thread is a one angled one.

Surely you have to agree that some individual players are better than some of the all time Wigan born greats on the list including Robinson and Hanley.

Nice to see that you’ve shown some respect to some of the Leeds players. For a moment I though it was going to slip into another my dads better than your dad debate too early.

I’d have to say the Wigan born players that I’ve mainly admired over the last two decades are Sean Long and Kris Radlinski. Thankfully one of them is still playing if not as good.

However to say that Ellery would just get into your all time Wigan team is a bit crazy and deluded because he’s arguably (and from Leeds) the best British born player to play the game. Unless you had some of the all time greats from Australia or New Zealand (of which I highly doubt it) playing stand-off or loose forward then you have a point.

Robinson yeah your probably right.

Hanley would be behind Brett Kenny, David Bolton and probably Ces Mountford as stand offs.
Shaun Edwards would be my scum half.

I wouldn't agree that Hanley was the best ever British player. That accolade would fall to either Alex Murphy or Billy Boston.

Hanley was a great player and one of if not the best of his generation. However his lack of a passing and kicking game keeps him out of my half backs, so he would have to be at loose forward.

The reason I said Wigan 17 is that in many ways Hanley would be the ideal sub, as he could cover three or four positions, but in reality I would have him at 13 and move Farrell into the second row or sub.
