Difficult to assess the game from highlights, so can't wait for reports from those who were actually there.

It seems like discipline and giving away needless penalties keeps biting us. And we still seem to struggle during the first 20 or so minutes of the second half.

Burgess still has time to develope and I believe he will but he's getting a bit too much game time at the moment and has made a few howling errors because he isn't quite ready for week in week out SL yet. Bailey & Kirke should be hitting their prime but aren't. Alays thoguht kirke was good value for money but barring then first 5 or so games this season he has done very little. Baileys there to 'rattle a few cages' Barrie Mac likes to say and it is effective but not always.

I'm also fed up of sticking up for Ablett. He guy really is a donkey. Makes plenty of tackles but apart from that he is nothing and I doubt he ever will be.

I'm willing to wait til the end of the season before I start criticising. Remember that the league has become alot more competitive all round this season, and in previous title winning seasons ('04 apart) we've come unstuck far worse than yesterday.

That 2004 side and the 2003 Bradford side would win this league at a canter. Could we not make the argument that the league has got worse rather than better?

I don't think it's a matter of the league getting worse. I believe Celtic aside everyone has improved a lot except the front runners (Saints & Leeds squads now don't touch Bradford, Saints & Leeds squads of the past)
and those 3 are the only teams I'd say have fallen a tad.

I think you could make the arguement that the top 3 or 4 (so called big 4) have gone backwards, but IMO the standard of the competition has gone upwards. Teams like Cas, Hull KR, Huddersfield and Quins are all highly competitive and could beat anyone on their day. The salary cap has bitten for the bigger teams, who have to release some of their younder players as they progress, and therefore comand more money (Scruton etc) and this evens up the competition.
11 Different teams are represented in the England squad, and I think that this can only be a good thing for the competition.

I'll be interested to see how many teams are represented by the time the 4 nations comes around. Something tells me that it won't be that many.
