| Quote: Juan Cornetto "tvoc - nothing you have said justifies your depressingly negative assessment of two youngsters starting out in their SL careers. I have the totally opposite opinion of both these two whose job has been made so much harder as they have come into an injury ravaged side who have also been in terrible form.I see a bright future for both based on what you have failed to see.........they both have shown they have some classy rugby skills to built on.'"
I don't have an issue with your or anyone else's opinion on here - simply stating my own. Were I also being depressingly negative when agreeing that Golding could be worth persevering with while still pointing to weaknesses or when commenting on an improved showing at St Helens.
Having watched again half the Huddersfield match I can now see where Golding's apparently high tackle count came from. High percentage were when adding weight as second and third man in on goal-line defence. I'll review the rest of the game later to confirm but as such if they constitute a tackle with Opta then it was easy to amass positive numbers, nigh on impossible to accumulate misses in those situations - something to remember when looking at the raw data.

I too don't have an issue with anyone stating their opinion. I accept you did, rather begrudgingly, say that Golding "could be worth persevering with" which is something I suppose. Neither do I have an issue when I, or anyone else, is challenged after making a critical comment and I assume you don't have issues with this either?

So I take it that this is a yes then?. And that you agree with my figure of 17 tackles in the game, which at double that Hardaker average, is high and is rather unusual for someone who you say avoids the physical side of the game and avoids contact and lacks bravery!
It is somewhat churlish of you to still try and deride that high tackle count which were made according to the same tackle rules and counts as everyone else in SL. Seeing as you mention a number of his tackles were in goal-line defense you have not accepted my point that he was involved in at least two try saving tackles one of which was a one on one effort.

I'd stay exactly where you are if I were you and make sure you prioritise what is really important in life. Tip: It ain't consumerism, selfishness and greed. That's just stuff which has a price tag but no intrinsic value.
I was merely pointing out that Australia is a victim of a culture of unbridled neoliberal financial market driven ideology which increasingly works for the few (haves) at the expense of the many (have nots). It's an ideological affliction affecting mainly English speaking western nations who have embraced it - USA (the main ideological driver), Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
I guess it may be hard to believe for some but there's evidence that the populations of the five nations above are the unhappiest and most emotionally distressed in the world. Leeds current position of 12th and bottom on the SL ladder may well be deemed a welcome distraction, believe it or not

Indeed, embrace the neoliberal culture over there. work hard, work all hours, work till you drop, earn lots of dosh, buy lots of stuff with said dosh. Define yourself by all that stuff you've got. The opportunities exist there for all that and more. But at a huge cost to oneself and to others.

| Or you could get yourself over to sunny Spain where family values are still important, the people friendly and laid back, the Mediterranean diet healthy and you can still get a cheap flight back to God's own county to take in a match when the mood takes you.

'"
I can see from watching the opening half where Opta could eventually reach a figure of 17 tackles for Golding on Friday. The majority in the half I reviewed came about through adding weight as third man into tackles already in progress within roughly ten metres of the goal-line. The reason for the higher than usual count I would imagine came from the prolonged spell of goal-line defence through repeat sets, conceding penalties and unusually for Leeds this season some resiliance. Golding adding weight as third man in to help control the ruck speed was smart but not requiring any particular bravery. Therefore the high count of itself when put into the game context doesn't help with that particular discussion, IMO.

I've described the nature of the majority that I found on review and that I imagine contributed to the higher than average figure overall. If you take issue with my explanation and the extent of Golding's involvement then we can go through them one by one. You are right to highlight any try savers and one on one efforts, they are the quality indicators within a game as were the high kicks he did take including one with a good return attached. Unfortunately introducing Opta raw statistics without reference to how they are derived clouds the discussion.

Again mate, the bit you are pointing out about Aus is bang on in my opinion. My bull$hit detector needs to be on 24/7 and my working class up brining and Yorkshire values keep me grounded. My Northerness gives me a good sense of perspective navigating those cultural issues and consumed individuals I meet.
There are amazing things about life here that I simply couldn't give my family back home and some down right horrible things that make me realise Leeds/yorkshire/UK still has a lot over Aus.
If I come back or spend the rest of my life here Leeds will always be home.

Waitrose is a bit like Iestyn Harris, it's bringing down the enemy from within. Though I suspect Bradford was a significantly easier target than neoliberalism.

He works very hard but he plays very hard too and he has the finances to do so. He has saved a significant amount of money which was part of the rationale for going in the first place
There are compromises: the home sickness at the beginning was very tough but with facetime/skpe that is manageable, a five hour drive to work and living in digs whilst on shift isn't ideal.
There is also the challenge of being to adapt to new environment can you stick it out especially for the young he was 22 when he went. Can you fulfill the commitment you made to yourself?
There are opportunities for self development - he is an hour from the barrier reef, close to Whitehaven beach - three hours to Melbourne etc. It isn't all consumerism.
Dan is taking a month off - flying to Melbourne, driving down the Ocean Rd to Adelaide than driving across Australia to Darwin then round the coast to Perth flying back to Mackay - tough to get that kind of life experience sitting in your house in Leeds. Sometimes you have take a chance if you want to really see what your made of and broaden your horizons

Unlike Harris, it's also failing to bring anything down but itself if the closure of the central Leeds branch is anything to go by.

Of course why not!
I have lived and worked over here since 2002 apart from a taking a gap 3 years to spend time with our new grandchildren in Morayshire recently. We even voted in the Scottish referendum but that was to stay in!
