I'm sure Souths talked to Furner as Plan B. Rather than Furner not being wanted, I wonder how enticing it would be as an offer - one year deal, new coach to replace you already locked in. I can't see anything other than downside risk for him there.

That would have been a no win situation.
I really can't see why Brisbane and Souths don't make the switch now, with it being out in the open.i can't see either side doing anything but marking time in 2019 with both clubs knowing change is coming. |

I posted the same thoughts previously Biff,I would fully expect that this swap will be announced for 2019 as soon as Bennett is back in Oz after the test series
If they don't and keep their present coaches next season,then more fools them IMO |

Its certainly not off the table. After their initial excitement I think both Souths and Brisbane realise what a mess they've made, and how hard it would be for both coaches next year. The problem is that switching coaches so late in the day won't help for next season either, as they'll have very little scope to make any changes to their respective squads.
