| I think this could be the end for Gale tbh.
On reflection, he has been slightly disappointing since he came back.
We moved heaven and earth to get him and he will be on a good whack - so I think the club have wanted more.
Don't get me wrong, he is exactly what we needed, and we could have been in a terrible mess if we hadn't brought him in.
He's had some decent games, but he's been inconsistent.
And the stupid disciplinary issues and suspensions - when we were decimated in the halves - are unforgivable for a senior player and captain.
With Sezer coming in and the potential to pair with Austin, I could see Gale being surplus to requirements.
How he might go will be interesting.
Does he sit a year in the stands at Leeds and wait to run out his contract?
Who would pay anything for a 33/34 year old?
In terms of O/S spot to create the space for Austin.
Likely to be Martin or Hurrell who makes way.
We are well stocked in the centre and back row.
We need King and Thompson as front row cover.

| Quote: christopher "Me neither, especially if we sign Austin.
This little episode rightly or wrongly has soured my opinion of him a little, Our success over the last few years has been built around respect and solidarity in the squad yes there has been issues before but I don't think the players that caused the issues have ever lasted very long. The team spirit seems to have come back in spades and I wouldn't want any player ruining that, plus on top of the fact he hasn't really set the world alight especially this season I wouldn't be sorry if he did leave.'"
good post - but you can imagine Gale's ego wouldn't let him be embarrassed in front of his peer group who he considers to be vastly inferior.

| Gale can be a contentious figure but he puts his heart and soul into his work. He says he thrives off pressure, well he has some now.
Honestly, I think the initial contract length was ambitious given his age and injury record, but I guess at the time they were keen to attract him in. Same with several other players including Thompson, who is solid enough but I'm still scratching my head over.
Do I think Austin and Sezer make a better half back combination than what we have now? Maybe. If they work together well and are good team mates, I could see it. With the pack we're developing you'd like to think a decent half back combination would have a good time.

Austin and Sezer is a better halfback combination than Gale and Lui or Gale and Sezer IMHO and also younger!!

Yeah vs Gale and Lui definitely (the current, aged and knee-less version of Lui anyway). Austin and Sezer vs Gale and Sezer - yes probably again.
It's very tough. Would we do better with investing the money in a recognised FB who could cover wing at a push?
Objectively, I can see Austin being good at Leeds. He is a match winner on his day, but why has he fallen so much out of favour at Wire (who aren't all that either)?
I dunno, maybe you do sign Austin on a 2 year deal and let him and Gale battle it out (for me Sezer is the shoe-in of the three, subject to him recovering). We have young Sinfield waiting in the wings, he will be about ready for first grade towards the end of those contracts and we can reassess.
We are in a really interesting phase now; the next couple of decisions on recruitment/retention will make a big difference to our prospects next year. We are at the cusp of being a good side again.

| Anyway it appears Gale did have a disagreement with Agar in team review he then threw his toys out of the pram and didn't go to training (all from the YEP)
He's apologised, been punished and that's the end of that.

Crikey. He now needs to focus on what he does best, winning Rugby matches. This will take a bit of living down, but if he does his talking on the pitch it will soon be forgotten.

| He says he absolutely did not storm out...then tells us he didn't want to train and...stormed out.
Anyway who cares. It's done with. It's made me dislike him that's for sure. Leaves a sour taste. Im absolutely adamant he won't be here in 2022

There is a difference between storming out and just leaving. Seemingly the game review didn't go his way, which is understandable. I think he still will be here in 2022, just not as captain. He had a lapse in judgement. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully it's done now.

| For me this has shown Gale to be who he always has been., I would keep his contract but refuse to play him and make him watch from the stands for the rest of the contract, liam Sutcliffe can take his place he's just as good and would teach Gale a lesson.

| He was asked to train with the team and refused and went home.
How is that not storming out?

Well in his own words "he wasn't in the right head space".
Seemingly our interpretation of "Storm out" are different.
