| Quote: Him "I think the real bit of economics is increasing the number of seats. Add another 4 or 5 quid to the ticket price.
I wonder how much this is costing? £15m? £20m?
I'm glad it's taking place though. Yes it's a shame there's seating in the South Stand but it's the future of the club and it's great to see it taking place.'"
Pretty much my take on it. Plus Caddick could be paying himself to build it?

| Quote: William Eve "Fantastic news.
After a 15 year absence from the south stand, I may now return with a lovely cushioned seat high up and level with halfway, well away from all the riff raff who've been stinking out that area for way too long.
Oh, and take that effin' band with you as you clear off!
It's not often I've praised him but... well done Gary Hetherington. Fantastic stuff
Proof, were it needed, that this redevelopment is a bad idea...

| For those moaning your options are this:
1. Stick with a south stand that is falling down around us and at some point will just be closed by the safety folk and a north stand that quite frankly is not fit for elite sports, or
2. Redevelop with improved seats and corporate possibilities as well as maintaining the heart of the south stand with seating.
For me there is only one long term option and we have all known this for sometime. If you really hate it then give your feedback to the club. I do wonder what some people want though.
Well done to all involved. Yet another example of the club (literally) building strong foundations for the future of the club.

| I think both new stands look terrific & reflect the way the game is & should be going.
The seated area in the new SS is to compensate for the reduction in seats in the NS.
That reduction is due to :
- losing seats to the new corporate dining area (which looks great IMV)
- the seats will be bigger than the current wooden monstrosities.
The standing capacity in the SS is greater than the current number of ticketed memberships (newspeak for season tickets) not greater than the existing total standing capacity in the SS.
The overall capacity of the Rugby side stays the same whereas the cricket side increases.
I wonder how the costs/revenue will be shared in the joint corporate & other areas?
A major bone of contention with YCCC currently is due to the fact that they get no match-day income from the catering & bar in the Long Room.
As I see it the entire funding relies on obtaining planning permission for housing on two green belt sites, so that could be a major stumbling block.
However both sites have been included in the City Council's plans that identified sites to satisfy the government's requirement for additional housing in the LCC area.
But I'm sure the nimby brigade in NW Leeds are writing banners & preparing to protest against these plans even as I post this.
Great to see concrete proposals with funding.
Let's hope it happens or we can say goodbye to Test Match crcket in Leeds for a long time if not for ever & Leeds Rugby will struggle to finance any redevelopment of the South Stand, with or without seats.
The proposals have my full support.

| Very pleased although I would have liked the Rugby ground capacity to have been increased to about 24k

| I didn't even realise until I read it in the YEP report that the club had these additional sites out at Tingley and Weetwood. Are they just empty fields at the moment?

THIS!!
When we watch other Grounds at SL I'd say 90% of them have zero atmosphere what so ever, ours is the only real atmosphere about these days!
If they think this is going to work then they've seriously made a big error call here.'"
The clubs that complain that they've lost atmosphere have occurred when they've moved grounds entirely to the middle of nowhere out of the way.
This still keeps us at Headingley and they are several big football teams such as Liverpool (The Kop), Everton, Newcastle (even though their team gives them little to cheer about) that have had to upgrade and change their stadiums especially after the events of Hillsborough and still keep their atmospheres and identities.
The only problem I have is that is that it makes the Western Terrace look even more ridicolusly out of sync and out of date with the rest of the ground, a real eye sore.

What is our 'OFFICAL' capacity at the moment as it seems to depend on what health and safety deem acceptable ever since they condemned the South Stand several years ago.

I always thought the south stand capacity was 10,000? that new proposal on there says it will be 7,721. Sure that must be significantly down on current?

| Meh. Looks like they got a crack team of multi-storey car park architects into design the whole thing.

Did prices at your new stadium or Warrington's rocket?
If not why should ours?

its been stated time and again when away fans come here and moan that the western terrace away end will always remain the way it is with no roof as there is no scope to redevelopment due to the houses directly behind.Nothing the club can do about it.
