Surprised Deighton didn't choose anyone from Batley or Dewsbury just to round things out.

As a Warrington fan, I was suprised that Leeds had 5 reps in the team - and also pleased to see that most of the comments on this subject here are reasonable and considered.

For what it's woth whilst Ablett annoys me I do think he's a very good player and should get in the team somewhere. I wouldn't have included Watkins, and Escare is a little unlucky not to be in at fullback but Bowen or Hardacker could have something to say about that.

JP's had a good year and part of the reason he's there is for leadership abilities. I've heard of a couple of coaches who have intimiated that JP gets away with certain things these days. Not because he plays for Leeds or because ref give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm not quite sure what they mean. Where do you think his weaknesses are and what could these SL coaches be referring to? (Genuine question, not taking the micky).

Hall and Makinson at wing - the latter for spectacular mid air leaps? Hall's had a good year and has got the better of Joel M on a couple of ocassions (plus scored 2 in the CC final) so on that basis I can see why he's there and Joel isn't but it could have gone the other way.

Watkins isn't the best Centre at Leeds never mind is SL.

The rest I wouldn't argue with.

Speaking of which, I was delighted to hear that upstanding example of principled impartiality Phil Clurke pointing out that the team selection owed much to journalistic bias on the part of Yorkshire hacks.

People need to stop listening and repeating what Phil Clarke says.

Ignore the fool and hopefully he'll disappear. He's at the bottom of the cesspool of rugby league 'pundits' and that is some achievement.

Oh, I dunno. I find that he plumbs the depths of tooldom to such a degree that listening to him actually renders some of the other pundits almost listenable.

Watkins is a popular fella for not being the best centre in Super League

Watkins is an enigma - easily the best centre in SL on his day, but rarely imposes himself consistently on a game. Still not sure whether it's him or the players around him who are to blame for this.

I hope he doesn't go the same way as Kevin Iro, who he reminds me of a fair bit - a devastating talent but seemed asleep for most of his time at the club. One game against Widnes in which he repeatedly ran through Jonathan Davies, as well as picking him up several times like a rag-doll, sticks in the mind. A less happy memory was in the CC semi at Elland Road against Featherstone when he failed to ground the ball over the line correctly without a single opposition player within 20m.

What you looking at?....Butt Head!!:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_68072.jpg

I want to see Watkins running on to balls at speed instead of being given the ball static with 3 or 4 men around him which seems to happen all to often. The try he scored against the kiwis in the WC semi last year (ironically off a Sinfield pass) is what he should be fed week in week out. We still don't use him half as well as we should. He is a genuine weapon who we don't get the best out of simple as.I don't like banging on about Wigan and there structures etc... but you can guarantee the Ape would him terrorising defenses and scoring for fun.

Obviously too difficult a concept for our current coaching set up icon_biggrin.gif . Thank god Wigan don't have the Leeds 1 to 5 ...we'd be back in the 80's/90's
