I dunno about him really, firstly he has to be the most smug person i'v ever seen - although this could just be part of his persona. I think he lost credibility with that russian roulette thing - there is no way that any of the TV companies or producers could sanction that if it was real and even if it was then he's either got balls of steel or a screw loose - not sure which.

With this its clearly a camera trick involved, when Derren Brown says he cant show the numbers for "legal reasons" itll be because there arent any numbers on the balls.Ive found this video on youtube which i think could be the closest to the theory of how he does it.

If you pause the video at 5.34 you'll see all the balls are level, when he's writing the numbers down its for him to bide time, at 5.52 the first ball is slightly higher than the others by a few mm's

I don't think Derren would risk his credibility with a cheap stunt like that.

Thats my thoughts on the programme, but you know what the ts are like.

...and he has never used them before and always says that there is no technical 'tricks' involved in his stunts and it is always (once more for effect) mis-direction and showmanship.

The only thing that bugs me about him not showing the balls is that he used the word 'result', not prediction when he said that he could not show them for legal reason reason!

If it was a predication of any kind why would that be a problem, unless he knew the result and therefore was not entitled to broadcast it before the BBC. The key is of course that it is impossible for anyone to 'predict' the balls, so for me he must have somehow know the result in advance (hence the word result) or if he didn't, then somehow the balls have been swapped out/mark-up etc in the seconds from the live result and him walking over and turning round the balls!

So, he could genuinely not turn the balls around because he knew it was the RESULT and will tell us how he knew the RESULT before it appeared on BBC.

Or, he could not turn the ball around because he did not know the result before hand and used the legal statement to explain why he did not turn them round and somehow he was able to show the balls with the correct numbers on them!

Of course, both could be wrong!

Yes your right but it doesn't bug me becuase I know that Derren Brown is not actauly "magic" and cannot predict the lottery munbers, his trick is to make people think he can predict the lottery numbers and he did it.

David Copperfield never walked through the great wall of china he just made it look like he did.

The leagal reason for not showing the numbers first was quite obviously a cover, first of all it was not a result he would of been announcing it would of been a prediction.

What makes me laugh is the people on youtube and various other websites calling it a "hoax", WTF do these people think a magic trick is

The Hoax comment really made me laugh... of course it is numpties... we just want to know how he bloody did it!

I am still going with the thought that somehow he knew the lottery numbers slightly in advance of the showing going out though and that is the key... but happy to be proved wrong!

I did wonder if the BBC film this in front of a 'live' audience and that is was filmed slightly earlier than it was broadcast and he was legally able to get his hand on the result numbers before hand because of a right to know/freedom of information type thing, but not show the 'Result' until after the BBC had.. therefore making it look like a prediction!

I saw him live in quite a relatively small audience at the Building Awards at the Hilton on Park Lane and he was just fantastic his ability to read and influence people and appear therefore to read their minds is just amazing!

My two favourite stunts of his was the Heist, which was awesome and also the Trick and Treat series where he taught that elderly women to 'read' people and almost win that poker tournament without really teaching her to play the game... cool!

The best way of responding to those who say it's a hoax is simply.

For it to be a camera trick or like you suggest a delayed transmission would be too easy for Derren, We know he's a very smart person and would not risk his reputation by doing something cheap like that. If it is I will be a bit disappointed.

It's a hoax.

Anyone who fell for any of what he said tonight is a fool.

Still it's good entertainment, got people talking didn't it?
