Quote: Ferdy "I think symour is a decent scrum half, if I was a hull fan I would be wanting a decent centre and replace Horne at stand off'"

That's the general consensus with Hull fans, although Horne hasn't had a bad start to the season and has probably been better than Seymour.

Martin will go at the end of the year, so I'd guess a right side centre is now top priority.

Moa is definately going, so Tickle may step up to prop.

Rumours on O'Meley & Briscoe leaving too, both will need replacing.

Quote: rhinoms "Sorry have i missed where you've become this "Big Club" ,challenging for all these finals and taken the SL by storm??
Like i replied to other-one great signing but still a long long way off from where AP said you would/should or will be or whatever "promise" he made when he took over and again i doubt very much GH is quivering because Ull have won the race and signed Ellis as good as he is.
I love this hatred for GH's mrs wasn't she involved in the Gateshead merger that saved your lot from extinction and also prominent on the board when you won the CC in 05 and made the GF?'"

Errrr...we know we are a long way off being top 4 material but are a "Big club" in other areas of the franchise applications. As for KH,they was in charge in 2005 and 2006 but they didnt take the club forward then,we had bad signing after bad signing, mediocre coaches, she was also in charge when Cooke legged it,Thackeygate,a £2,000,000 tax bill for EMT payments (something you have got hanging over you) and the Gleeson drug scandal. We are seeing a improved performance on the pitch under Gentle now and anything is a bonus than 4 mediocre years under Agar.As for Finals and taking S/L by storm...i didnt say that we would be,i hope we will be at some point and the signing of Ellis is a step in the right direction.

Mmm.. must admit i'm very disapointed we've not re signed him.... i had a feeling we'd miss out as i previously posted our record on re signing ex players isn't good.

Well done FC for securing him, they've done very well there. We have either been toally out bid or we didn't feel he was worth the money and i wonder if we have decided we would sooner spend it on securing the likes of Watkins etc

Good signing for Hull.

A second rower won't turn you from also rans to winners (as i think someone has written above), but players like ellis have always formed a part of winning teams and hull are starting to accumulate more and more of these type of players.

yeah well said. our recruitment of late has been a tad disappointing, but hey ho i'm sure we'll secure the right players when needed.

Personally I accepted that we wouldn't immedaitely become world beaters overnight, but the change since Pearson took over and now this signing gives me optimism that Hull are slowly building to be up in the top levels of SL.

If we can start challenging the likes of you (putting up a decent show at Headingley would be something) then I'll be happy.

Your success didn't happen overnight - it came after a lot of hard work and frustration. We've had the frustration, now the hard work starts and who knows what's next.

Not sure I am too bothered about losing out on him.
Whilst many on here will point out that a good second rower does not give the right to be a top winning side.
It does bring it`s advantages of securing other signings maybe from Australia who want to play with the likes of Ellis I guess.
Nobody will know how much he wanted or how much we offered if anything.
So no point going down that route.
I`m sure Howes will be happy with the outcome though.
I`m not going to wish Ellis good luck as I hope he fails in his choice of clubs icon_wink.gif

Yes, it's kind of dissapointing but if we're honest the signing of ellis would have just been a bonus, not a necessity. We don't really need a second rower who can fill in at centre (as good as ellis is) when we already have delaney and ablett, and while it's pointless to speculate on the amounts of money involved it's pretty clear ellis won't have come cheap.

So to sign him we'd have had to use a likely sizeable amount of money for a player in a position we are pretty well stocked up on, and even if we did make a bid and match or even better hull's offer he's obviously decided they are the better option at this point in his career, which is fair enough.

Obviously it's a good signing, but Hull need to sort out their youth policy if they want sustained success. There's been a complete underdevelopment of local players given the amount of them there must be in the area. You have a good back row now, but they're all bought in and that's not sustainable. Compare to Leeds, Wigan and St.Helens, who not uncoincidentally have been getting to all the finals.

Was it KH's fault Cooke wanted to play for HKR?
Likewise was it her fault how the Gleeson scandal was handled?
As for poor signings most of the ones you are now lauding as good players were signed under her regime and as for coaches Kear won you a CC did he not?
Mcrae did ok but had to leave and Sharp took you to a GF as for backing Agar again was that soley down to her?
A lot of blame laid at her door which she had little or no control over but then again it's easy to blame her rather than admit the whole club made mistakes and aren't as big or as good as you lot think you are.

A strong Hull team makes for a better league and Ellis will improve them, no doubt.
From our perspective, we seem to have little difficulty in sourcing players good enough to win trophies. TBH I'd rather experience the excitement of seeing a new young player develop than re-signing a face from the past, however good.
