Why would the club offer Walker an extension or upgrade now? He's contracted to 2020 and whilst he has shown promise he surely hasn't done enough to warrant anything more yet. I'd say the ball's in his court and its up to him to show enough to get an upgrade or extension. The time to review that would be mid season at the earliest. Hetherington has done that with plenty of players. I just don't see any reason to rush.

Nothing new in that,could just be another rehash of old story

Expect there is some truth in this in terms of us having a look at him but that is very different to him running out on boxing Day against wakey.

Interesting point for me is that he wants to end his manly contract a year early, manly seem to be happy to get some cap space back but prob don't want I'm playing NRL if they let him out of his contract.

Does that leave him potentially looking for a SL for one season to fulfil his 'not playing against Manly' promise? So could we be looking at getting him for a year?

I really hope that we get something finalised quickly. I'd be over the moon if we did sign Taupau, however I still wouldn't want to get too excited until it was an actual reality. If this does fall through we need to be targeting existing super league players who actually want to play for us. somebody of the calibre of Walmsley if we are happy to throw around the marquee money.

Agreed. Sounds like we have money to spend and money talks.

I'd prefer to see Walmsley off the treatment table and back on the field before we start to look in his direction. Otherwise we might be back in the salary cap sitting in the stand scenario once more.
