| Quote: Dave K. "It's been mentioned by Leeds fans that he the World Greatest Winger (possible in jest), but I don't even think he is Leeds best winger.
Excellent player though, who would do very well in the NRL.'"
Not Leeds fans- even the aussie press put him in team of the year 3 times
He's not the best winger anymore though (and unfortunately for Huds its not Mcgilvrey either) that would be Semi Radradra imo

"The Golden Generation finally has its Golden Fleece! They have Wembley Cup Final winners medals to add to their collection."

| Quote: William Eve "Complete winger is more than a bit of a stretch to describe him, though he'll be fine and dandy in SL. There's no winger in SL capable of treating his defence with the level of contempt that Kyle Feldt did.
Reminded me of a teenage Mal Meninga contemptuously swatting away Les Dyl at Boothferry Park against GB in 1982, except on that occasion Dyl could at least argue in self-defence that Meninga was twice as big as he was.'"
Reminded me of Billy Slater trying to stop a certain English winger and ending up with a broken collarbone.

| Hall is way heavier than 1982 Meninga. Nobody would "swat" him away if he was stationary. He mistimed his tackle badly, and someone with his experience should have done better.

Thats probably closer to it. Hall just got it all wrong.
What was more disappointing was that that particular try you could see coming from two plays before, and whilst Halls effort was pretty poor, the defensive structure had fallen apart so much it would have taken an outstanding effort to stop it.

| Thoughts for me
1) Winger is one of the hardest places to defend on a rugby league field. With more space to cover than anyone except fullback
2) You are always on the end of the rest of the team's failure to react / slide, meaning that you often have to move a long way in short time, and be unable to retain full balance before making a contact. This is what happened on Sunday. It'll happen to every winger in the world. They a left with an overlap to defend, they have to make up ground and can't get into the right position to affect a decent tackle. In that scenario your chances of getting a good contact are minimal, based on timings.
3) What winger is great defensively?
4) I think that comparing his defense with other positions is like apples and oranges. Completely different roles with men around you. Winger is very isolated
5) I'm glad we don't score so many tries out wide. With our goal kicking this year, we'd better hope that more tries come through the middle

8 years after Dyl was at his best. Didn't he retire at the end of the following season.

No idea but Dyl was 29 years old at the time of that Test in 1982.
Having checked both videos, Ryan Hall wins the "Battle of the Bitchslapped" IMHO.

You're entitled to your opinion that Dyl was at his best when he was 21 years old and younger.

| Ryan Hall has saved us plenty of tries in the past and bitchslapped plenty of big players himself - plenty of NRL players at that - he was out by a fraction on this occasion and that handed Feldt the initiative, slightly different starting stance or arm positioning and Feldt gets bundled in to touch. That's the game.
As for William, he can't bare the idea of anyone in SL being any good so there's little point in listening to his lopsided nonsense.

| Les Dyl was pretty ordinary at the back end of his career. He was one of the 70s generation that simply didn't adapt to changes that were happening in the game. I say generation because he wasn't the only one who went from being a staple of rep teams to retired quickly.

What's Tame Tupou got to do with any of this?
