Yes, as would anyone in that position.

Yes, especially in an arm wrestle of a game field position is vital and it worked for a couple of kicks.
I think he has a bit of a look of Kryton off of Red Dwarf, but inside that head is a fantastic attitude along with great leadership a and a smart brain.

| He goes in with his arms raised to disrupt the kick, realises it's got away, drops his arms, grits his teeth and smashes Kev with his head.
I've never seen this on a rugby pitch before - lots of late strikes in this situation with the arms, but never the the top of the head. If he wanted to stop himself he would've used his arms - that's the instinctual defense response.
Also, his demeanour after the incident was devoid of remorse. More mission accomplished.

| It was definately late and deserved a yellow and 10 in the sin bin but once again it was ignored by Silverw##k and the touch judge.

I'm baffled as to what he was saying wow at because by my reckoning he wasn't looking in the direction of the big screen and I don't think sinfields conversion had yet sailed over because the team didn't start to run out from behind the posts. Also a simple touchline conversion is unlikely to 'wow' someone as travelled as monoghan hodgson kicks em week in week out.

| Why would MM hit him with his head though, he would risk just as serious an injury, with head clashes sometimes you get 'lucky' and for some reason can just brush them off, sometimes it knocks you out and hurts like hell.
Like has been said if he wanted to hurt him either shoulder or forearm.

| I see no reason why he should be sticking his head in there in that way. Reckless at best, malicious at worst.

| If he deliberately sets out to do Sinfield with his head then he is one hard, crazy b'stard....
Seriously, having just seen it for the first time, it looks like a genuine charge down attempt, which obviously misses and leads to a nasty ACCIDENTAL head collision.....The way he turns his head at the last moment seems to me like he can sense what is about to happen and an instinctive self preservation action kicks in. Sinfield, in the act of kicking, as no chance to do similar and is unlucky to cop the impact.

| Just watched it back this afternoon and he definitely put his head down to hurt Sinny, he had the option of pulling out of the charge down as the ball had clearly gone, or could have put his hands up to cushion the collision but chose to hit him with the hardest part of his head into the side of Sinnys.......totally meant for me an Australian tactic of taking out the person who's doing the damage

| He couldn't avoid hitting Sinfield, it was the way he dipped the head and lunged it towards Sinfield that was totally out of the norm for a typical chargedown.

| I don't think I've ever seen anyone lead with the head into a kicker like that. It was definitely reckless IMO, and should have been penalised. Had he done serious damage to Sinfield (that could quite easily have broken his jaw or cheekbone) the reactions would be very different.

| Can't remember many kicks in the game where the kicker (on both sides) didn't end up on their backside ..... Silverwood always turns to watch the ball and hasn't seen (or penalised) a hit on a kicker in years .... and woe-betide any TJ that flags for anything these days ....... If Thaler had been reffing however, we'd still be there now ...... as he's never seen a ball land he's so busy looking for infringements in back play. Different refs have different ideas on reffing at kicks.... sadly neither trust their TJ's.
I'm with most on this; saw it live, then on big screen, and twice since on tv - MM mistimed the tackle on the kicker badly .... as did Ablett at least twice, and same, not even a hint of a penalty - but you don't deliberately lead with your own head if you wanted to inflict damage, you'd use your shoulder/forearm; .... 9/10 you'll split yer own nut in the process and be off getting stitched anyway.

| Do you think even Bailey's team mates think he is a bit of a cock too???.....
I must admit, as a comedy figure and a wind up merchant, he's up there with the best and I presume that has to be his role in the team, because as a player he is very average?
Give him his due, he's got the medals/rings to wave in front of his detractors, but as there ever been such a mediocre player so highly decorated, not just in RL, but sport in general?

| Ryan Bailey makes me laugh.
I really used to dislike him, but honestly, I now enjoy watching him play. Such a wind up merchant
When he plays us though I always hope he's in one of his penalty moods!

Ian Kirke?
Although to be fair to him I have been very impressed with him this year.
Bailey isn't as poor as other fans make out. His isn't a world beater but he certainly adds to the team and has performed well especially the last few years

To be honest, it was merely a continuation of what went on at Wembley ... A game where Lumpawood made an excellent job of stopping the late hits on the kicker from both sides.

Very harsh on kirke, he does a good job. He does a job for team he's not spectacular but that is the salary cap for you.
