| Lowest home attendance v a SL team since 1997 Oldham Bears. If anything is going to get GH’s attention about how bad things are it’s income. That’s not sustainable.

| That low attendance tells you two things…
Leeds fans are voting with their feet
Challenge Cup needs a revamp
Embarrassing. And on national television.

Nowt wrong with the CC. Think it’s unfair for us to be so judgemental of the players and club, if we’re not even there to roar them home in such a big knockout game……
But I’m probs old fashioned….

I love the fact you were so happy to be at the game, but let's face it you aren't a regular are you? A lot of of folk shelled out for season tickets even in lockdown and they are perfectly entitled to vote with their feet. I'll be there on Friday with a sick feeling in my stomach. Don't really want to go, but I will. However totally appreciate that many have run out of patience.

I’m not Arthur no. A very fair point you make, and allows me to understand things from that perspective. I would feel very let down in your shoes, without a doubt. I suppose I pick and choose which games I want , and definitely a novelty and excitement with the games I can get to. I go wit a mate who drives me too, so is a very relaxing experience for me…..

| To give some further background it’s not even about winning for me. Witnessing those collisions live is just something else. Anyone who can stand up to Liam Watts has my full respect.
I remember 1 hit in 2015 where I was literally sat a few yards off Cuthbo running into Macillorum, sounded like a gun going off.
I also started dating my wife around the same time I started regularly attending live games. I remember explaining to her how skillfull Ali Lauitiiti was. We were there when Ryan Hall played his first game away at Hudds and were in the corner right next to where he was defending. My wife commented on the size of his thigh’s and how he had a look of disbelief on his face every time he scored.
I’m sure we all have so many wonderful memories. Guess it just made me feel a bit sad seeing the Southstand so empty and quiet.

| Quote: The Ghost of '99 "Let's be honest that press conference was an absolute mess. How anyone can see that and not want to give JJB a slap round the chops is beyond me.
JJB and his entire generation of players need to be expunged from the club's current structure.
Constantly banging on about how good things were in his day and how he did things as a player does nothing for the current playing group. He almost openly admits trying to forge them in a mirror of that generation. Just stop it - we need them to find their own direction, stop being compared to the past and approach the sport as it is now not 10 or 20 years ago.'"
This is the biggest problem at Leeds - none of the senior people have any experience outside of Leeds. The club is limited by the ability of the people at the top. GH has no experience outside of Leeds, Rob Oates the same, JJB the same. It needs fresh ideas and fresh people.
JJB can trying and make a team in his own idiom - hard work commitment all that but he was surrounded by a group of exceptional players who could make things happen when it really mattered. There is simply no substitute for quality. It is what separates the best from the rest. Why is the NRL on a different level to SL because the players are so much better.
Work as hard as you like in training but if you don't have the quality to produce the goods when it really matters it will simply mean you lose by less.
JJB's press conference was a mess - he has been part of the coaching set up for 2 years so you have to point the finger at the coaches for letting the attitude get to where it is and that includes JJB.

I agree with a bit of what you say elsewhere but you seem to have forgotten that time Hetherington founded, ran, coached and made economically viable and competitive an almost uniquely successful expansion team. Or when he basically ran the RFL for a while in the early 2000s.
It's fair to question whether he's still got the knack he once did of spotting and recruiting players. But then he has stated he has been trying to transfer the DOR aspect of his job to someone else since 2018.

The experience of building a development club is not really relevant to the current situation. This is elite level sport that needs elite level thinking. This club has been in decline since 2015 - I accept the stadium revamp would have used up a lot of time and energy but that was completed pre-pandemic. Having JJB in charge and seriously suggesting he might get the job is thinking that is way off. This needs decisive leadership where a crucial decision is needed and soon. Looking at the fixtures coming up I see Tolouse as the only game that looks winnable given the recent performance levels.

I don't think GH seriously believes JJB is the man, but in the situation the club is in he had to give his backing. Beg to differ a little on the winnable games. After the Saints game ( where a epic stuffing beckons) we have a week off before Hudds. With any luck at all we will have four props available. That will make a huge difference. Hopefully also a new coach, but I guess the jury is out on that one.

| The only option aside from JJB was Long, at least in the short-term. I've no problem with GH publicly backing him. The fact that JJB is even in this position for a couple of weeks shows what a state GH has let the coaching staff get into. When you look back though its probably not surprising - succession planning in the coaching ranks has definitely not been a strong point, and jobs for ex players has been going on for years. Not one of our ex-players has really shown any coaching ability, except for Powell.
