| Quote: Fat Boy "A winger's centre has much to do with their own performance and because I don't watch FC on a regular basis I can't comment, but I do know that when Hardaker was in the centre role he hardly fed his wingman at all. Also Keith Senior, in his day, could make even an average winger look good.
I really rate Brisco and don't necessarily think that signing him and losing BJB would be detrimental to the club, although I think Ben still has more in his bag of tricks than Tom.'"
I have to say that I've been watching Hull since I was 7 (Im now 35), and in the super league era, in my opinion, we havent had a player other than Jason Smith, who can pull off some of the plays he does. His tackling is superb, there are so many examples of him stopping a try that to be honest, you had just given up on. His attack given a bit of space is fantastic. He's scored tries that only a handful in this league could. His tackle chasing back Elliot Kear (where he made up a 10m defecit and held him up by the scruff of his collar as he was diving to put the ball down) was a genuine 'how the hell did he do that' moment.
Don't get me wrong, he has his faults. He's not the best under the high ball and occasionaly his positional play is poor, but he's a superb player.
I think that because of the emergence of Lineham (whose been sensational) and crooks (a real wingers centre) on our right edge this year, the loss of Tom has been softened in the eyes of many fans. Its not until next season when we have Jason Crookes lining up on the wing that we'll realise what we've lost. Theres simply no comparison.
Knowing the way Hull have done business in the past, we'll offer you a swap deal. We'll give you Briscoe and £50,000 and you give us Joe Vickery.

| In full swing the Watkins-BJB partnership is solid. I'd be content to keep it.
This year down the other side we've seen some stuttering, so I'd maintain what we have in these areas and improve others first.

| Am I the only Rhinos fan who isn't a 100% fan of BJB.
As has been stated he's now 25, so no longer a kid, yes he's fast but IMV he doesn't possess Briscoe's ability to bust the line & make the hard yards in his own 20 from dummy half.
Also as a full back ( & a winger on attack) he's pretty secure under the high ball or bomb but kick the ball to him or past him on the ground & he nearly always struggles to cope.
Last week's game against Wakey when Smith kicked behind our line & he somehow flyhacked it forwards towards our posts leading to their try being but the latest example of this.
If Smith wants him at the Wolves to replace Hodgson then good luck to him.

I would have agreed with you 12 months back. But I think second half of last season and his games back this season he does look a very good player, and would I would prefer to see kept.
However, I am still in full agreement that Briscoe is a much better player.

I'm on board with that. I don't get to games week in week out but from what I've seen of BJB and Briscoe I'd take Briscoe over BJB every day of the week. I hope its not a case of one or the other and would like to see BJB retained for his versatility and the fact that we rarely have 1-5 fully fit at the same time. Its nice to see us in the market for a player of genuine class as well.

Not sure why you think the celing for BJBs potential is so much higher, Briscoe is nearly two years younger'"
Sorry, don't agree with that. Briscoe is a very good winger, and in my opinion the better winger of the two currently. I haven't seen him do much that I would describe as really special. Good speed, can beat a man, good finisher. That's why I think he's in the top 3 English wingers right now.
Age is not the sole marker of potential is it? I base this on a belief (which by its very nature I can't prove so I'm not going to try to persuade you) that BJB has never quite developed into the player he could be. I also think that, irrespective of his age relative to Briscoe, there's still time. I just don't get the same sense from Briscoe that there's hidden quality waiting to be unleashed.
All highly speculative, but meh, it's an internet forum innit.

Yep I agree - Hull are a decent side but would could Briscoe do with the support/ coaching from Rhinos?

Yep BJB is one of those players who can do something brilliant or ridiculous in equal measures.
Pretty much summed up in that glorious break in the CC final against Wigan

BJB was outstanding last night, my MoM if only for making Cock-ayne look like a rank amateur.

| TBF his try last night, I believe, started with him picking up a Smith grubber off his toes & then scooting 95 metres to touch down.

Well I was wrong in my guess above.
Having watched the try on superleague full-time, it bounced up into his arms at chest, or at least waist height.
It was still a strong run though.
