It's clear the club has been trying its best to bring in the right quality of player, but there have been lots of dead ends. One point of concern for me is the conditioning of some players: Ferres looked to be struggling with his playing weight last season, and now we have Hurrell and Lolohea who aren't known for being dedicated trainers. I personally don't think there's any excuse for a modern rugby league player to be carrying excess weight. It's your job to be in the best physical condition possible. That squad needs a very professional attitude and application to make gains next season.

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Peter Smith is on his 2 weeks holiday currently, so I very much doubt any signings (if any are already over the line), would be announced until he's back. Look how quiet it has been whist he's away - he's the club's only mouthpiece.

I imagine announcements would be better timed once the participants have finished this international series (including Wayne Bennett). I could actually see G Burgess to Leeds to be honest. He seems a good lad and is a top player in a position we badly need filling. Wouldn’t be upset with Ikahihifo either.

The problem is Ferres hasn't been able to train for about two years due to his persistent injury. This was finally, finally fixed in the middle of the season and he looked so much fitter by the end of the year than before - I expect next season he actually might be able to perform like the player we bought.

No excuse whatsoever for how timber he was carrying.
As for his injuries he was shocking before during & after he's a wage thief.

Whilst George Burgess would be fantastic, and there's a chance he'd be available given Bennets reluctance to pay big money (officially and on the cap at least), he's still one of the premier props in the game, he has an Aussie wife/child and there are a number of NRL clubs with plenty of cap space available and actively looking for big props. I just can't see him coming.

Last year of a deal and suddenly good to go. Must've been speaking to Ryan Bailey, he was always the same.

We've heard all this "good to go / time to repay the club etc" malarkey before, its time for him to deliver as a senior player and international he's been absolute hot garbage for Leeds.

Great servant, but at 37 it's stopping the progression of a younger player.
