Is Caddick in it to make money really?
He seems happy to bank roll the union club as a hobby and I wouldn't have thought anyone really takes on the ownership of a sports club in order to make a fortune.
I doubt his tolerance to losses would be as high with RL but I wonder if its as much about the kudos as the brass.

I'm a big admirer of Gary Hetherington, always have been. From his wholehearted efforts as a player, to his formation of a player's union and starting a club from nothing in South Yorkshire while selling double glazing and running fund raising marathons to make signings. But at times I think he acts as if he is still the Chairman at the Eagles rather than running what should be the biggest club in the ESL.

Which is why no-one remembers Alf Davis ... Nothing much to show for it in the trophy cabinet, but 'We've got the best lottery in the league'

| Quote: tvoc "So which players are their problems?
On paper Wigan have as capable a squad as any in SL and on their day they walloped St Helens.
Getting consistent performances out of them is where their problem lies and that's more an attitude and coaching issue for mine.'"
If the attitude of the players is a problem then surely there is something wrong with Wigan's recruitment?

Perhaps, perhaps not.
Losing games they ought to win could be as a result of any number of things rather than solely recruitment.

icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.:icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg |

Agreed the two are linked you will not make a profit in RL without a winning side - simple - your revenue streams are driven by success on the field - no one wants to entertain serious clients to second class entertainment - winning on the field is everything - the rest will spin off that - sort that out and you will have a successful business - especially that given the salary cap - the marginal cost of winning is zero.

According to Titchy Tinyrod - 9 out of 10 Aussies say their NRL players prefer Wigan to any other Championship winning teams.

| Richards is very Irish. He only played all his rugby in australia because he was brought up there by mistake.

not necessarily. Take 1 player out of a team and putting him another and his performances could be on another level. Good team management and club mentality have an impact. Fielden for example...
