Remember we were in real danger of relegation under the crazy old system until a couple of months ago; we are trying to rectify years of poor recruitment; also there is the salary cap where we need space before we can recruit. Realistically, a difficult situation to rectify in one closed season. They’re trying their best.

That reads to me that we already have Hurrell as a marquee player. And we are looking for 2 more world class signings. One which will contribute as a second marquee signing. Fingers crossed anyway. Furner also said Merrin wasn’t the only player we were looking at.

He is already on good money, and yes is our current Marquee. But that doesn't really mean anything in terms of the contracts he will be competing with.

All Marquee means is anything over X amount doesn't count on the cap, and the difference between an homegrown marquee and an overseases marquee, is that the X amount is lower for homegrown (in effect better management of cap).
