That would seem like a really odd move to me.

I know he is behind walker at Leeds but he will be behind ratchford at Warrington and while ratchford is older he isn't about to retire or anything.

I would think he had more chance at game time at Leeds and surely we need a back up fullback?

Perhaps yeah. Though I'm hoping lolohea gets stuck in at 6 and I actually would have thought sutty was more likely to leave than Golding.

I don't think anyone can deny he made hard yards down the middle in a beaten pack missing players.
He was injured for spells sadly but that's what happens in rugby

He might have been released because of attitude or fitness or it could just be that Furner wants a particular style of prop and doesn't see Garbutt as part of that. Assuming we have someone lined up from the NRL it makes sense for us to make sure we release players first, so the fact we're now down a player doesn't worry me at all.

He played 8 games - hardly much to go on

Hardly goung to miss a player who played less than 25% of the games, i would rather have a lesser player in crosby who actually get on the field

Sad to see him go but Mc Dermott clearly didn`t rate him hardly picking him first time round and then suggesting he needs to go back to Oz.
Injury hit last season but was our best forward when he played.
Plenty of others in that pack needed to leave before him.
But if it is down to attitude which seems to be the case then the club are right to ship him off.
Someone posted previously that we might know his injury is bad hence why we moved him on.
I don`t think HKR will have signed him if that was the case unless they don`t do medicals in Hull.

No one has come up with anything credible about Mitch Garbutt's attitude. People are just trying to fit that to explain why on earth we would release him.
It's absolute madness.

Playing in only 25% of all games last year might have something to do with it....

The point being, none of us know what's gone on!

But what we do know he hardly played last year and when he did it wasn't for big stints, we do also know the club are wanting too bring in some new players and to do that we may need to lose some salary cap and an over seas quota.

This forum was full of people wanting a clearout for next year, the club are in the best position to know which of the players are the best to get rid of. I rate Garbutt I think he's a great prop - when fit, which has become increasingly rare.

You don't get rid of your most effective forward after one injury hit season. We'd have got rid of Ellery after '91/92 or Peacock after 2010 on that basis.

Maybe the club have assessed his situation and think that ne might only play 25% again next year, what if getting rid of Garbutt means we get a better player?

I can guarantee if Garbutt had stayed and hardly played next year people would have been saying we should have got rid, the club cannot win with some people on here.

Another season like last season and Ward maybe on his way out. too many Rhino forwards are spending too much time in the treatment room and are not playing due to injuries. there is just something in this club that is not right, either the training methods in terms of making tackles or their level of fitness at the start of the season, what ever it was showed we had a soft underbelly last season.
