Anyone who doesn't watch rugby league is not a real person. He's a cow's hoof, an ethnic or comes from Melbourne. John Singleton Australian (1981):d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_43314.jpg

Whilst appreciating that Ash is still learning his trade, it seems to me that his positioning sense is actually better than that of Tom Briscoe. The number of times that Briscoe overran a pass opportunity was irritating given the quality of Leeds' centre play - I have not seen similar wasting of chances by Ash Handley.

I thought in the few games they played together this season Watkins And Briscoe seemed to be on a better wave length.

Quote: Andy Gilder "Where do the likes of Hall and Briscoe "earn" their place back, given there isn't a reserve grade competition?

Unless you're suggesting they go play for Hunslet for a few weeks?

They've earned that place over the last 12 months (or in Hall's case, even longer). Handley hasn't done enough in his spell in the side to usurp either of them when fit IMO.'"

Fair points. IMHO Ryan would be straight back if fit but Briscoe's work rate is so much less than Ash H I would send him to Hunslet for a couple of weeks and learn how to go seeking the ball.
What I really don't want to see is Ash abandoned and then next thing he is "on-loan" to Salford or Wakefield for the rest of the season while McDermott dreams up another reason why Tony Smith seems to have the Indian sign over him!

I would suggest opening the eyes at matches in future. Briscoe was one of our top players until his injury, because of his work rate and metres made.

Briscoe was awesome before his injury. Makes great metres. I think he will join Ryan Hall in the "world class" bracket. We can kill teams from either side.

Briscoe's biggest strength (pun only a bit intended) IMO, even when he's in try scoring form, is what he offers us bringing the ball out of defence. Handley doesn't at this point have the kind of raw power that Briscoe and Hall have (lots of filling out to do yet) and doesn't offer the same threat when we have the ball in our own 30m area.

I think Handley is probably ahead of where we expected him to be at the start of the season. He's had some good experience coming through so I think he and the management will see that as a bonus. Lets not burn the kid out, bring back Hall and Briscoe when ready

Although I am not disagreeing Hall and Briscoe be brought back when available I do wish the excuse of replacing Handley because he is a 'kid' would not be used. He's 19 isn't he?? 16 or 17...yes a 'kid' but by 19 surely not?

Yeah he's still a kid at 19. He hasn't developed physically and very few have by the age of 19.

Clearly I must be going to a different match to you, but my season ticket does say Carnegie Stand - It must be my eyesight!!!
Given all the pre season hype about him before he joined I personally feel he has been the biggest delivery failure since Smith came back from kick & clap. I even feel his younger brother has more potential.

Good job we all can and do have different views a014.gif

Luke Briscoe won't make a Super League player as long as he has a hole in his backside, IMO.

He's neither Arthur nor Martha - not quick or skilful enough to play in the backs, not big enough to play in the forwards. Might do a job somewhere as a bench hooker for 20-25 minutes a game, but that would be it.

I am not sure what preseason of 2014, has to do with what has happened in 2015, which is what we were referring to.

I am in the Carnegie stand, and luckily I haven't seen anyone else at all criticize Briscoe in anyway this year, as most can see just how damn good he was for us before his injury.

It sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder for some reason. There is no sane reason to say his brother has more potential.

Interesting because without exception everyone where I sit (within earshot) thinks Briscoe is a waste of space and we do better when he is not on the pitch.

His brother, Luke appeared to have more enthusiasm when he played, in my opinion. But on the basis of "having a chip on my shoulder" it appears that some people on here are not entitled to have an opinion.

I also think BJB was a better prospect than Briscoe but I may not be allowed to say that either

You can say what you want, there is no law against it, but you get challenged when it sounds ridiculous.

I sit in the seats, and sorry but I don't believe you that there is anyone else saying that about him. He was clearly one of our top three players in the early season.

Had you said it last season, then fair enough, but you specifically stated this season. A big critic of him, IMO unnecessarily, last season was Sal Paradise, and I bet he would state this year Briscoe has been well up there.

Briscoe has been superb at the start of both his seasons with Leeds, and although he had a very average 2nd half of last season he's still one of the best backs in this country with pace, power, and a handy offload, and to me it's clear we've missed him badly since he's been out, same goes for Hall.
