Quote: Gotcha "Are you for real?

I would have Potter down as coach of the year at the moment. He is doing an absolutely fantastic job at that club. That squad is a mix of poor and average, and most expectations was that it would be battling the likes of Cas and Salford to challenge Hull KR for 8th Spot.

Despite the financial problems, and the massive injury problems they have had to contend with, Potter is still managing to win games and keep them challenging.

I wouldn't have backed another coach to repeat what he is doing this year with the issues he has had, and that squad.'"

Not sure about coach of the year, but pretty much this.

Quote: Tyke's/Rhinos No. 1 Fan "Elima is OOC end of season anyway, and is a good, yard-making, offloading second row. More impactful than Clarkson, Kirke & Hauraki and less poop than Moore. Would be a good signing.

Whitehead & Kopczak are two of the best young forwards in the game. You may have noticed that they bossed our current pack in the game we lost at Odsal. Bateman, probably the best young LF in the game right now. If we can get him, we should, but I reckon he's probably off to wire.

I'd also be tempted to look at Keith Lulia in the centres, Heath L'Estrange at Hooker (or a certain Mr M Diskin, esq.) and Gale/Sammut in the halves. Bulls have had a good squad this year, but as usual, Potter can't get the best out of them.

We also have to face the long-term reality. Which is that though we have a good core of young players in Hardaker, Jones-Bishop, Hall, Watkins, Ward, McShane, Ablett & Delaney, and some medium-age players in Jones-Buchanan, Griffin, Bailey, McGuire & Burrow, we are soon to lose some top players (Peacock, Leuluai, Sinfield) and have some players (Kirke, Moore, Smith, Hauraki, maybe Clarkson, maybe Lunt) who haven't produced at the top level, and whose positions should be under consideration.

Personally, I think if we adopted a 1 in, 1 our policy, then

Lulia for Smith
Elima for Kirke
Kopczak for Moore
Whitehead for Hauraki
Diskin for Lunt
Bateman for Clarkson

would be a very good bit of business imo.'"

Completely disagree about Kopczak and Whitehead especialy as the former is biscuit boned and both are very inconsistent and nowhere near 2 of the best young forwards around.
Also your like for like list is totally wrong in that they aren't that at all look at their respective pecking orders squad wise then do the rellevant SC maths!!
As for Sammut a poor mans Burrow and Luke Gale thanks Schoey but no thanks.
Every spot you've identified on that like for like list(which isn't like for like) can be taken by a current U20 at a cost much less than the lot you've muted to be signed.

Yes we need to start giving MORE penalties away.

I couldn't, frankly, care less whether the Broncos share my sentiment or not.

Gotcha, I am astonished at your appraisal of Elima. He is a fantastic player. In fact, if he could improve his discipline he'd be one of the better 2nd rowers in the league.

And to state Hauraki is better? I am better than Hauraki. He's wavered between plain awful and fairly average in his time here.

That said, I agree with your overall assessment of which players from the Bulls we crave.

I hope all clubs feel the same way about our players as Gotcha does.

Hock is the best second rower in the league by a a long distance. He has discipline issues, but still can lay claim to that stature.

If Elima was even half as good as you are suggesting, he wouldn't be at the Bulls. But you are entiltled to your view, as anyone else. Good luck to that.

Make no mistake Hauraki was a poor signing, and a poor player, I won't be arguing against that. Elima would give us nothing that he currently doesn't give us. Hauraki shouldnt' be a measure for signing any player.

The issue with Elima has never been what he can give you, more what he actually gives you. Strong carries, but a tendency to give away dumb penalties and get too easily goaded into losing it. Leeds already have that well covered IMO.

Elima has given away 1 less penalty than Ablett this year and 3 less than Delaney.

He's an aggressive player sure, but his discipline isn't as bad as you'd think.

Agreed.

Quote: Gotcha "If Elima was even half as good as you are suggesting, he wouldn't be at the Bulls. '"
So, by that rationale, Craig Huby must be really pants as he's at Cas. Can't have it both ways.

Besides, Elima won't be at the Bulls next year. He'll be at a club currently in the top 4.

Quote: Gotcha "Make no mistake Hauraki was a poor signing, and a poor player, I won't be arguing against that. Elima would give us nothing that he currently doesn't give us. '"
Not trying to be clever but I don't understand "Elima would give us nothing that he currently doesn't give us".

Quote: Gotcha "Hauraki shouldnt' be a measure for signing any player'"
So why did you introduce the comparison? I'm not suggesting we should sign Elima, besides, it's moot, he'll be at a top 4 club next year. I'm suggesting he's better than Hauraki.
