| Quote OUR WILLIE="OUR WILLIE""Keep Right On......." was sang by Leeds fans all in the 70's and 80's and even into the early 90's . I know I've sung it enough times. It should be sung again , along with "Green Green Grass of Headingley..." , "6 Foot 2 , Eyes Of Blue , Big John Atki's(probably Carl Ablett now) , After You , Nannanananaananana " , and others I'm sure older posters here can remember with equal affection.
Other topical songs of their time include "Hey Rock And Roll , Murphy's On The Dole" and "Video Jailed The Rugby League Star".
I'm sure these can be updated to suit todays times.
It's up to you guys.'"
I've heard 'Keep Right On' sung in the SS a few times, albeit many years ago (late 80s onwards ?)

| I understand this one comes from the 70s :
[iWho’s that team we call the Loiners ?
Who’s that team we all adore ?
It’s the boys who wear the blue,
With the hoops of amber too,
And they’re out to show the rest what they can do.
So bring on your Wigan and St Helens,
Widnes, Warrington too,
They can try with all their might,
But be beaten out of sight,
By the lads who wear the amber and the blue.
Graham Murray has an army,
Iestyn Harris has a dream,
They’ll go down in history,
When they march to Wembley,
And the Loiners win a famous victory.
So here’s good luck to all you Loiners,
Here’s good luck to me and you.
For throughout the rugby game,
We will immortalize the name,
Of the boys who wear the amber and the blue. [/i
Albeit with an amended verse for the 1999 final ...

| Here's another one which again, I think dates from the mid-70s ... The important part of this one is that the first few verses are spoken and not 'sung' :
(For those of you who are not sure of the tune, may I suggest a certain video-sharing website and search for a clip of a certain ex-Radio 2 Irish DJ and his No.1 single related to the Cornish town of Helston ?)
[i<spoken>
I went for a stroll one summer’s day,
I went for a stroll up Headingley way,
In to the social club I came,
Where they play that dreaded bingo game,
The committee man said “You get out”
“We don’t want you Leeds fans about”
So, I went to the South Stand bar to cheer up,
Paid my money and supped my beer up,
When a rousing noise came from above ….
<Sung – Tune : Floral Dance>
I thought I could hear the glorious tone,
Of the Leeds fans singing in the South Stand zone,
Laughing, cheering one and all,
The greatest team with the oval ball,
Victory is all we want,
So all together with the Loiners chant …. [/i

Here's the words as I know them :
[iKeep right on to the end of the road,
Keep right on to the end,
Though the way be long,
Let your heart be strong,
Keep right on to the end.
Though you’re tired and weary,
Still journey on,
Till you come to your happy abode,
Where all you love,
You’ll be dreaming of,
Will be there,
At the end of the road. [/i
At the end, the song then goes in to a chant of 'Loiners, Lioners, Lioners...'

| There used to be a lot of "Yorkshire...Yorkshire" chants when playing Lancs teams. Then there were the ones specific to other teams - Old Faithful and Red Robin come to mind.
Sorry if mentioned, but to the tune of Que Sera Sera with lines like "Go wash your mouth out son, and go get your father's gun, we'll go get the X scum, que sera sera" (I can never remember song words, sorry).

They still sing that - can't stand it, it's too braindead for me.
There also used to be a lot more repeated grunting of "Get into 'em".

See I quite like the 'Wash your mout out son' song, although it could be seen as being braindead, I think it's just a light hearted dig at the opposition. It's not aimed at being offensive, or literal, and raises the atmosphere, but I understand where you are coming from.
I hate the 'Get into em' song. I dont remember this being sung in the 80's,90's and is probably more recent song. It's not as bad as the monsterous 'Lets go f*cking mental na naaa naa na' song though. That one is horrendous, and in my opinion is probably influenced by the football fan mentality of some of our newer fans (luckily it doesnt get sung that often).
One with a bit of swearing I always used to chuckle at, and that with a bit of luck we could use this weekend (although with the amount of women and kids that will be there it might not be appropriate) is....... Wigan, Wigan, who the f*ck are Wigan....

| Here's another one we've not had for a while (and IMO, far more subtle than any self-abuse references) :
[iOh my ... What a referee,
What a referee,
What a referee,
Oh my ! What a referee …
His little wooden whistle wouldn’t whistle.
<< The last line can be added to with lines like s**thouse, cheat etc. which are shouted rather than chanted >>[/i

There is a song that use the tune to Que Sera Sera , heard the Southstanders trying sing it at the Cas game but they didnt seem to know the words which are :-
Tell me mam , me mam I wont be in for tea
I'm going to WEMBLEY !! Tell me mam , me mam !!

| An old Leeds United chant that could easily be adapted is :-
His eyes they shone like diamonds as they lifted the cup from the stand and then there stood ' Kevin Sinfield:
with the Silver cup in his hand !!

| I Sang For The Loiners When The Sky Turned Black
It's Hard To Sing With A Hull Fan On Your Back
They Buried My Body And They Thought I'd Gone
But I Am A Loiner And I Still Sing On
Sing Sing Wherever You May Be
We Are The Leeds RLFC
And We'll Lead You On Wherever You May Be
And We'll Lead You All Down To Wem-Ber-Lee
