But its wrong that someone can make massive profits in the centre of Leeds whilst everyone else struggles.

Here's how it works...

Company establishes itself in a city
Company pays (often exorbitant) business rates directly to the city council
Company employs staff in the main from that city
Company pays wages to those staff
Staff who live in that city use those wages to pay their council tax direct to the city council
Staff spend their wages in the main in that city
The shops that they spend that money in use that money to pay their (often exorbitant) business rates to the city
Those shops employ staff in the main from that city
Those shops pay wages to those staff

It goes around and around...

Thats why city's are so keen to attract big stores and PLC companies - because thats where it all starts from - see Bradford for the antithesis of this theory.

There is no way on this planet I'd let either of my children freeload off the state EVEN if that meant they had to work at ASDA for £1.60 an hour.

I have installed a sense of pride in my children that means the things they want out of this world they know they will have to work hard to get. You seem to think that the world owes you some kind living for 'merely existing'.

I am a big believer in social welfare but as long as the state is prepared to dish out cash to the unworthy, work-shy freeloaders I have to question it methods of validating it's applicants.

I really hope none of your children struggle on the job front then. Sounds like your children have to live under your indoctrinated views of the world or else.

Would you disown your child if one of them turned out to be a Hippy?

Would you close the door on them if they ever happened to get involved with the wrong crowd?

Or would you try your damn hardest to get them on the right track?



To be fair the world owes me nothing and I don’t owe the world nothing. We just reluctantly collided on this thing called existence. We’re just trying to get through it the best we can!



Who are the unworthy then?

I’m not work-shy. I spent many years in school working..

I’m convinced that Leeds has more than enough money to put every unemployed person in this city into long term, stable and fair employment. Unfortunately more often than not, profit from these places end up into the hands of where its not really needed.

My two offspring have worked their way through college/uni, neither of them in what might be considered "prestigious" jobs, both of them on minimum wage, one of them is now looking for full time work whilst still working part time at her unprestigious minimum wage job - its what young people are supposed to do, its what I did when I left school, its what lots of college and uni students do - it teaches you to get out of bed in a morning, be reliable and punctual, gives you self-esteem and puts a lot more money in your pocket than JSA will.

There are jobs out there that you can do Damo and no amount of bleating about there not been any will change that fact, grow some balls and climb on the first rung of the ladder or admit that you aren't really looking at all and are quite happy to scrounge for the rest of your life.

Hopefully the spending review will hold some nasty surprises for you in October.

Why is this?

Well Hitler didn’t like Jews and he went as far as killing them. British Taxpayers don’t like the unemployed so they want some sick scheme to stick them on. They want us to suffer for merely existing just like Hitler wanted Jews to suffer for merely existing.

If my indoctrinated views means that they get themselves a good education and subsequently a decent job then I have no problem with that.

You must have worked real hard at school to put yourself in a position where no-one wants to employ you.

I really hope you do follow your dream and end up being really successful but in the mean time I just wish you and the thousands like you would get of you respective ar[size=100s[/sizees and start contributing to society instead of leaching from it.
