I'm guessing a GF repeat might be one of the fixtures for the Magic Weekend if they chose to go back to arbitrary fixtures rather than randomly drawn ones.

Or why have the one of the showpiece games either a repeat of the previous year's grand final or a charity sheild type game champions Vs cup holders ?

The rest of the games could be based on last year's league positions : 3 v 4, 5 v 6 etc.

If we have to have a Magic Weekend I think this is the best time to do it, with a big splash. Hopefully (but I doubt it with the RFL) it is given loads of media coverage.

Already booked hotel in Caerphilly - £45 a night for 2

Based on my online and phone enquiries today DONT expect to find central accomodation readily available.Most chains have already 'got booked up' for that weekend.
Methinks further price hikes to yesterdays online findings are going into the system later on.
TWO independant hotels said that was the reason they lost the event before.......

Bad move IMO - completely the wrong time of year - most people will be paying for Christmas - it is going to be freezing - barmy if you ask me

Well i'm going for the first time to this Magic weekend.

Think it's a good idea and a much better start to the season,starting with a bang as opposed to the season starting with a one off stand alone fixture.

lets face it EVERYONE looks forward to the start of the season,new signings for most teams,everyone having confidence that ''this year is going to be their year''

The temperature thing is no biggy. The roof is closed so inside the stadium will be a lot warmer than Crusaders away was this February.

This will be the first Millennium Magic I've been able to attend - been to finals in Cardiff before but not the Magic weekend.

TBH I'm quite looking forward to it - the Missus has booked us in somewhere (don't ask me where) and by all accounts a great couple of days.
