Reports in Aus are that whilst Merrin had verbally agreed to come, he's changed his mind and is staying at Penrith. I'm guessing Gould couldn't get whoever he had lined up to replace Merrin and has therefore stopped trying to push him out.

True. It was all taking too long - if it’s such a hard decision, most people revert back to the lower risk. Not the end of the world if true; but a good fit in principle.
Leeds clearly have budget and will here, so let’s see if they can come up with something still. |

It’s frustrating because Garbutt PLUS another real prop would give Leeds a decent pack suddenly.
I honestly believe if we want to be truly competitive again, we need to aim for the best pack in SL as a starting point. We have a reasonable back row when and if fit but every one of them has a point to prove in 2019. |

Who can we target now that is world class and that would move to England? I don’t know if many like. I am quite glad that Merrin isn’t coming.

Absolute joke letting Garbutt go. I've not been as angry about a recruitment/retention decision since Paul Medley was let go.
And now letting him go without anyone else lined up - well perversely Leeds deserve everything they get.
