Props are the major priority and where good money needs to be spent

Need to get out front of the Ava situation. If he his homesick we need to release him ASAP. We were very indulgent with Merrin about finding another NRL club and ended up with egg on our face and a pack that was short of beef. If we don't move decisively other clubs who are currently releasing players will gazump us.

We only released Merrin when a suitable replacement was available IIRC.,,we’re still waiting for that player...

Might sound harsh but if Ava looking to go should agree contract release now. It should not be an option for him to wait and see if he has an offer in the Nrl then jump ship in say March. A deadline of say mid January should be set and if he does not seek a contract release then we expect him to see out his contract or request a fee. This would be fair to all parties

Well he’s clearly not signed which was I suppose what he was saying.. but I think he’s onto something from reading what their local media man was saying. We’re waiting for the jigsaw pieces to fall into place apparently with two young players waiting to re sign.

I’ve seen some posts saying Ava’s stats are actually quite poor when you against other top props in SL. This surprised me tbh anyone think similar?

We dont know the ins and outs of our scouting network etc so who knows what business has / is / was conducted.

It always [iseems[/i that we are always late to the party and especially in the last few years scrabbling round for scraps.

Other teams seem to have players lined up a year or two in advance and slot in. I guess this is due to us consistently fighting relegation but we are also notoriously cagey wrt transfers in general.

I have a hunch there will be some announcements once the initial uptake of ST's is out of the way and in all honesty, I do agree with the philosophy of signing the "right" players its just so damned frustrating sometimes.

We've also had issues with Segayaro, Merrin, Ava, Crosby and now Ward which we haven't been able to plan for. We haven't known what the playing budget is for next season until recently, so that will have made planning for next season very difficult.
