I would be surprised if the decision isnt already made.I would prefer to see McShane given the chance to prove himself but think we will see him offloaded and Lunt will be given a contract if his release from the giants can be sorted.

Lunts release won't be that easy I don't think given that Hudds have just released moore, lee and fa'alogo this to me looks like they want to recall him with only Robinson left as a recognised hooker going to be a hard decision with whatever they have to do mcshane hasn't really had the run he deserves to prove he deserves that spot and has looked good at widnes , hood looked good right from the offset , and with Lunt we know we're getting a pretty good player also
Glad it's not my decision to make !

Lunt has another3 years on his Giants contract so a fee will have to be paid. GH has paid transfer fees in the past, Hardaker and a few years ago Karl Pratt, and it does not count as cap expenditure. However GH seems as though he's reluctant to pay a high fee if required, recently Taylor from HKR going to Wigan.
Also if the rumour is acccurate about Joel Moon that will require a fee to be paid as there's 1 year remaining on his contract.
Obviously GH will try and negotciate the fees down, maybe part player exchange, but interesting times!

This being the point I was getting at with 2 recognised hookers on our books both full of promise and potential do we make the decision to go with the younger guys or stump up what I'd assume would have to be a generous fee with 3 yrs left on his contract and even then do Hudds want to sell him perhaps if mcshane is on his way to widnes then that fee will go towards us getting Lunt

If McShane goes to Widnes then as you say the fee could go towards Iunt's transfer fee. Probably Moon's fee for only 1 year might be fairly small if this transfer goes ahead?

| If the rumours of McShane to Wakey are true then I can see us bringing in another Hooker
Id really like Lunt to stay, with Hood been the long term option

You have mixed up David Fa'alogo with David Faiumu, Faiumu is the hooker and still at Giants. I do not expect Lunt to be at Giants next year and suspect we are talking "undisclosed fee" as a convenience. Frankly with Robbo & Fooey (both internationals) keeping a third capped hooker is something of a luxury, fine player though Lunty is on his day. Giants can spend that cap space better elsewhere, though personally I'd like to explore a swap for a prop.

| I think it might also come down to where Lunt wants to play. Going off his soundbites and tweets etc he really is enjoying life at Headingley and this could help him to get a release

| Aye he seems very happy at the Rhinos, im hoping GH gets the cheque book out!
On Friday he showed what he is capable of, thats the type of form that got him in the England call up, he mentioned in an interview that at the Giants he was been asked to play a style that didnt suit him, hes come to Headingley and McD and Lowes have told him to play the way he enjoys, with a full pre season with the lads I think he could get back to been one of the best 9's in the league!

| He has good distibution from the ruck, his can certainly rock the big boys with some of his hits, seems sharp when he scoots, but it is his selection of when to go from Dummy Half that seems to let him down. I really hope he stays, but it would definitely be a shame to see the back of McShane.

He has been given the chance to prove himself. He's had games for Leeds and on some looked decent, and he has had 4 months with Widnes playing each week.
But either way, he hasn't looked as good as Lunt.

| Disagree Gotcha Mcshane has played very well for Widnes and although Lunt has done ok at times but much improved the last couple of weeks he's not been as consistent as Mcshane over their loan periods imo.!

Lunt's been a lot better than Mcshane. Same with the Ali argument, there is a difference between the role at Leeds and in a team like Widnes. What McShane has produced at Widnes may well have looked good for them, but would it have been good enough to retain at place at Leeds?
Lunt has been a lot better than given credit for. I have to be honest and say I would like better, but I still think he has performed his role well.

| I'm sure theres more to it than just their relative form on the pitch. McDermott has made it quite clear he wont suffer fools, regardless of their quality. Not suggesting McShane falls into that category but it did seem strange giving him the 9 shirt then shipping him out a few weeks later. It's all well and good saying he's played well at Widnes, those games cant have been anywhere near the intensity of last Friday. It's Lunt for me, is it just a coincidence that he's so much more influential when he starts a game?
