I watched his whole career. Leeds fans have always overrated him. Entertaining, but some way behind the other props of his era.

Cuthbo far superior to Barrie Mac in my opinion

I'd still take O'Connor over McDermott, although I'd sign McDermott just to get him off sky!

Doesn't it depend on the balance of the team and what you want your props to do? We never had an "awesome foursome" like that huge Bradford side - and they steamrollered most sides most weeks. McDermott is a completely different player to Cuthbo, I'm not sure how you directly compare them. I'm not even sure Cuthbertson should be playing prop at all, but maybe I'm old-fashioned.

On his day Cuthbo can be a real asset, but the reason he is over here and not in NRL is because he is very much a Curate's egg, and there's some rubbish in his game too. Barrie was an enforcer who never took a backward step and intimidated the opposition. Far more direct and far more aggressive.

It is a team sport and it's the chemistry and balance of your players which makes a side effective or not. You need a JJB (or Glanville, who was a great player IMO) to tighten the middle and do the hard stuff for every showman. For the side we have today, a McDermott would be brilliant because we lack that direct aggression and whack in D for me.

Lets be honest if Cuthbo didn't have an Aussie Accent and had come through our system he wouldn't be getting half as much flack as he his at the moment.

He was still easily our top meter making forward and went blood to water against Wigan. He needs to cut out his errors but his form does not warrant being dropped over all.
