| I've watched the highlights of fridays game on sky and the super league show. The basics are glaringly missing. Tries from near the line where there are three defenders on that man. The worst one was where Watkins just stands and looks and doesn't even get stuck into the tackle. The goal line defence and also defence further up allowing quick breaks has been seen by our opposition. We will continue to be torn apart until the defensive basics are sorted out.
As someone rightly posted on Friday, if Hurrell or Dwyer get injured then lets start looking for some paddles down the creek we are now in. GH's plan for Leeds has ultimately failed and I seriously question some of his signings and way he has managed the club in recent years. As for KS, he would have been our hero had there been a turn around but his lack of experience since leaving as a player and being a coach/manager is showing now. I do question Furners signing as he was not proven and this has come back to haunt us. Maybe there is not communication coming from the club as they simply can't cover or paper up all of the mistakes they have made.

And that has to be down to furner. The players aren't responding to his coaching on the field

Why blame Furner for that and not the players? You cant blame the coach for some of the defending weve seen this year.

Because a coach's job is to get the players to perform on the field. If they're not responding to him then we have problems. It's like saying Dave Hockaday wasnt the problem at Leeds utd it was the players.. now I know we have some poor players but we should not be bottom of the table. A good coach makes all the difference

| So if a player cant be d throwing his body at an opponent on his own goal line to stop a try it's the coaches fault. Think your over emphasising what a coach can do.
The players are responsible for their own performance and attitude. A coach can only put structure and tactics into the team.
Do you blame Furner for the ball being kicked out on the full 4 times at KR also?

Time to drop Walker, No excuse for that kicking and his defence on the line is currently poor. Ash Golding currently defences better on the line. Give Lolohea a run there, after all he is a full back too. Playing in the wrong position is not helping.

Not at all. But a good coach can make everyone have the right attitude at least. You're undervalueing what a difference a good coach can make.

| The sign of a real quality coach for me is one that consistently gets the players and team punching above their weight. Regardless of the obvious personnel deficiencies and losing games you can see when a team is well coached as they look cohesive and communicate effectively.
As a coach you can then reflect that you're getting the best out of the players at your disposal. What you cant do is say 'that wasn't good enough' time and time again, if you are then you need to look at your own performance as a coach and the environment you're creating. A team is absolutely a direct reflection of the coach.

Wouldn't disagree but there's plenty of coaches - and often the ones that win stuff - who still seem unable to nail this consistently. Ones like McDermott, Macnamara, Radford who've definitely achieved that cohesion, often from adversity, and yet have masterminded some real s**t fests. Would you say they were good, bad or indifferent?

It's also pretty apparent when the team is winning in spite of coaching. I'd say a coaches form can deviate like a players can. You have periods where you know it's just not coming together and that's where that personal honest reflection is important.

| Trouble is 3 different coaches have struggled with the bulk of the squad. At some stage you have to accept its the players just not being good enough.
