Clark is a very dangerous player, anyway Chase would never fit in at Leeds. At Cas he has a free role and wouldn't have that at Leeds. Similar to when he plays for England - he looks stifled.'"
He couldn't p,ay at Leeds as Sinfield has to have the ball go through his hands at least 4 times/set.
I agree on Clarke, good player, better than Lunt.

| Chase is not a better defender than McGuire. He may be a better tackler but not a better defender. The Exiles game being a perfect example, he cost England at least 2 tries.
Chase has to be the main man in the team or it won't work. Every play has to go through him and if support runners run decent lines then he has the ability and skill to pick the right pass. If they don't though he often doesn't show up. The Hull game a good example of this, he turned it on for 20 mins. The other 60 he was anonymous. That's perhaps to be expected in a poor Cas team, and in a better team would have more opportunity to show his skills, but only if he's the main man on virtually every play. Against a better team (or a Hull team performing better) Cas would have been easily beaten.

Just like Sinfield then.
So which halfback should play second fiddle to Sinfield in the World Cup for England?

Doesn't really matter does it? As long as Sinfield is calling the shots it's almost irrelevant who's on 'second fiddle'.

No it's not, Sinfield generally plays more centrally than Chase. Sinfield is generally 1st receiver whereas Chase is often the 2nd receiver to give the "killer pass" around the area where the centre defence joins the edge defence. That's not a criticism of either player, they play different roles. Plus I think Sinfield has adequately proven over the last 10 years that he can play alongside other playmakers, often too many at Leeds at some points.

I think Myler or Widdop should be the other halfback, I think they're used to playing a role that fits alongside Sinfield, whilst Chase isn't and that's not Chase's game. Again that's not a criticism of Chase or anyone else.
Chase is a cracking player, that doesn't mean he would fit into every team or their style.

You mean like Chase does at Cas?
If you're going to be critical of one player for something, at least try and be consistent.

With Chase in a Leeds shirt Sinfield moves back to 13, I'd be happy to see the ball go though Chase 4 times/set, based on his ability with ball in hand.
My criticism of Sinfield stops at pace and quality with ball in hand, my admiration starts at leadership, work ethic and goal kicking.

| Good player is Rangi Chase. But sometimes I wonder whether it's possible that we can't just sign every good player in the league. Someimes it seems like there's some sort of invisible ceiling or cap on our salary spend.
There have also been some question marks over what he contributes off the field. Hard to know what to read in to these things, but success is built on more than the 80 minutes of a match at the weekend.
You wouldn't see me moaning too much if we signed Chase. But it won't happen while there's a salary cap. He'll most likely stay at Cas, where he's onto a good thing, or head to the NRL.
I'm also not so sure he's any more inconsistent than any other playmaker. It's just that most others have at least some semblence of back-up in their team so the whole shebang doesn't completely disintegrate when they're not quite on it.
