TBF, the idiots would be in there anyway. It just bunches them up instead of them being evenly spread out across the Southstand.

As for the band, IMHO the kill the atmosphere rather than make it better. The amount of times pockets of Leeds fans start a chant going and the band start up their own tune. It just drowns out everything else and gets boring and repetitive. They have had their time now. It's hard to get any kind of noise started in the stadium when they are repeating the same 6 notes of 7 nation army for 15 minutes straight with no one joining in.

Instead of re-running the same old pointless argument, I'll simply say that the band and I prefer to persuade people to join in my having something they can join in with, than abusing them for not playing into our little ego trip.

the band is the main reason i dont stand in the south stand now after standing there for many a year , would like to shove that drum over his head especially when you get a single bang to put off an opposing team player , if you had that noise next door at home you would be round like a shot , its anti social in my eyes

the crowd should be allowed to create its own atmosphere and songs , if its such a good thing why not have one in the north stand some how think that wont happen,

Why to we have to be forced to listen to whatever the "band" decides to play? It's not organic or spontaneous in the way that crowd chants should be. They've had their day – time to move on.

Someone asked me why I stand with the away supporters not long ago. My answer was two fold – away supporters tend to genuine fans who put effort into supporting their team and you can have a bit banter with them. Also where else can I go? The North stand is where you get when you're getting on a bit and you need a little sit down, not there quite yet – the Carnegie stand is for the posh lot and the terrace has no atmosphere and the Southstand is full of chavs, the Special Needs Crew and that fekking band.

I don't mind the band, but they tend to overdo a song. You might get a good couple of rounds of a chant and then an extra two minutes of the band playing the tune. I always think you get a more vocal and passionate atmosphere at away games. Everyone seems to be on the same page chant wise at your Wigan, Hull, Huddersfield games.

I wouldn't really shed a tear if they weren't there, but it won't stop me from standing in the Southstand if they are.

What a load of bollox chavs ,drunk kids etc etc have been in the SS or frckin years and even more so drunk old tw##s who think they have "their spot" !!
I don't like to stand near the band nor do i give sh## if they stay or go but to blame them for the way a load of p1$$ed up divs act or the increase in the number of chavs attending is way wide of the mark if we have a band or not drunken chavs will remain as will the gloits Fatboy refers to.

Very well said that man, I've been a southstander for at least 25 years. I stand in the same place every game with the same people. Every sport attracts it's share of drunken idiots ( I've had a few warnings off the stewards over the years as well). But to blame the band is way off. You can't and neither can the club regulate who attends a rugby game we just have to put up or shut up, for the record I like the band I think it gives a good atmosphere
I don't know if little drummer boy is attached to the band because he seems to think he is, I know he hangs around with the special needs bunch and that could be the problem.
Every one on the planet could probably admit to being a drunken pratt at some point in their life, some unfortunately do it more than others. There's not a lot that can be done about it!

2. What exactly are their 'special needs'? As far as I can see, you object to their a) being young and b) being poorly dressed. Which, given the entire point of going to a game is to support your team, seems to me to be completely irrelevant.

3. They probably can. Certainly including the seemingly self-selecting 'cool lot' on here, who've been noticeably rat-d on more occasions than I care to remember. At least the SNG, if that's what they/we are to be termed, have never turned to abusing or intimidating our own fans.
