Wouldn't it be better if the No2 was a back (or even better a halfback) rather than another forward?

| It would be funny if it was Barrie. We would play rugby, but can you imagine anyone wanting to fight against us....
I'd agree we need someone with experience and a bit of craft about them. Maybe someone like Garry Schofield?

Brett Kimorley's just retired in Aus, hasn't he? Hetherington is going to Aus.
Someone mentioned to me Andy Hay and Dave Rotherham have applied for the role, but McDermott wants Paul Anderson.

Presumably for his goal kicking...
The answer is obvious, it's Graham Murray. I remember speaking to him in the White Rose centre after he came back for the '99 reunion, and he said he would like to return in some capacity in the future.

I would love to see Murray back but would he accept being an assistant after so long doing the top job where-ever he's been?
Someone like Kimmorly would be interesting but so many bemoaned the fact of our own ex-players getting coaching jobs so what would make that one any different?

think kimorley would be a interesting number 2. There are two arguments if you go for recruitment from within they know all the structure and culture of the club. Bringing someone in from abroad, may freashen things up and spot things insiders may not.
Not sure where I stand but would not be adverse to the signing

| We seem to be established that Brian Mac's strengths are in fitness work, training, and discipline. There may be more to him than that, but that's the assumption at the moment.
The other main functions of the coach are player recruitment, and tactics. Hetherington will be in charge of the first under the Leeds set-up, and we seem to be in need of an assitant to be in charge of the latter. The problem is that the "tactics coaches" are usually the head-coaches and the "training coaches" are usually the number 2s. I can't imagine an experienced and intelligent coach (like Murray, for example) taking an assistant's position with a head-coach's skillset, to work under a head-coach with an assistant coach's skillset.
So we'll likely either get someone untested or with little experience, or someone who has a replica of McDermott's skills, neither of which are ideal.
