I'd probably reach Manchester but then struggle to get across the Penines. The Carlisle-Settle line is probably going to be even worse.

Well put it this way, i wouldn't be suprised if they shut Leeds station due to H&S reasons (floors too wet etc) although the Leeds departures dont look too bad. Transpennie routes to Hull look to be cancelled (IIRC they start in Manc.) Everything else looks to be about 20mins late. Not bad going really.

The roads are gridlocked. A journey what has taken me 10mins in the past has taken me an hour today. Seen the odd bus aswell



Snow doesn't look like stopping for the day, clouds still look quite heavy.

I looked out of the window and didn't even bother leaving my bedroom. A lovely day at home doing nothing but <eating pies>. The in laws are visiting and they don't look to impressed mind.

Main roads will generally be OK as rush hour traffic wears most of it down. Less busy roads are f*cked and any hills that haven't been worn through you won't stand a chance.

It won't sod off though, it just keeps snowing.

From my desk (at home today) I have a great vantage point to watch people trying to drive their cars down the hill.
It's hilarious.
The most popular method seems to be brake and slide four feet, move a tiny bit with the wheels revolving, brake and slide four feet, move a tiny bit with the wheels revolving, brake and slide four feet ... etc.
Most of them are making more distance with the brake on than off.

I guess they never get the opportunity to practice the right way to do it.

The right way, in my opinion, being to leave it at home.

The one problem with working from home is that no-one believes you when you email head office to say you can't make it to the office today and are having a snow day.

I have to be in Birmingham early tomorrow - looking at their forecast I might just give it a miss...

Train i got on at dewsbury was 40 mins late due to the train not being able to pick up speed in the manchester area. Also wehn in Leeds i did notice that they were cancelling alot of trains to Manchester & Kings Cross and alot of our offices in Manchester got phone calls this morning telling them not to bother coming in so that area must be bad as i work for slave drivers!!!
