Without exception, every union representative I have ever come across has only taken the post for the perks they get from being a union representative.

Not one of the slimeballs has any interest in standing up for the rank & file workers. It’s all about getting time off to attend union meeting/ training and getting your expenses claims in.

In most cases you're correct. They're pretty useless when needed. The concept of unions is great, but the reality is a different matter.

My bins have been emptied once in 10 weeks, I have no use of a car during the week and have still managed quite nicely without them.
Its a dirty horrible job and the workers have been treated shoddily by management, but it has proved to me i pay too much Council Tax for very poor services generally.

Yes, the taxis are now ranking up there again because there wasn't the room down at the bottom end of town near Asda House where they've been operating from for the last few weeks. They are now sending three cars around onto the station from the Headrow and three from the Asda House rank. Like I said, one of the issues was the fact there wasn't enough room down the bottom end of town, but pedestrians were also starting to use the Headrow as a proper rank instead of just as a queue. This meant drivers were getting walk on fares and not having to wait to get onto the station.
