You've given your opinion on the halfback situation above (which I agree with btw), and it would just be better to give your thoughts on the subject in your first post rather than pointing out the OPs 'sloppiness' - this place would be better if people just shared opinions rather than going for the 'one-up manship' tact, and trying to boost their own ego because they think it makes them look 'smarter' than some other random person on a message board.'"
I called it sloppy because it was. That's not a personal insult to ther OP but he listed 3 new players, leaving out at least another 6. That's sloppy at best, trolling at worst.
I've already said why the thread is pointless, it doesn't make sense. No one's ever come out and said we're not in the market for a half back due to money. Rightly or wrongly, we're not in the market for a half back because the club want to go with McGuire, Burrow, Sutcliffe, Lilley & Aston. So to start a thread asking where the money for a new half back is, is pointless.

| You can only sign players that want to come and play for Leeds who you think will fit into the culture.
It could well be that a change in culture is required if the club is to move forward and you can only do that by changing personnel i.e. the coach and the senior players.
Yes it would be great to have a top half back from the NRL but that isn't going to happen - so what alternative does GH have?
I personally would have signed Todd Carney he is by far the best half back in SL by quite a distance but Leeds would never sign a player with his past.
Which players that other clubs have signed do fans think GH should have signed?

| Isn't Myler available next year?

None for this season. We've got McGuire & Burrow with Sutcliffe, Lilley & Aston waiting in the wings.
Depending how things pan out we might have to be on the look out for next season though.
To be writing off our half backs after 1 game when McGuire hasn't even played yet and Lilley's due a spell at some point is just ridiculous, IMO.
If McGuire retires, as expected, and Myler becomes available for next year then i'd like to see him and Lilley play together.

| The move to Catalan has done Mylers form and career the world of good, but I'm not sure he's the type of halfback we need.

Tbf if we are being critical of McGuire's fitness problems then Carney hasn't exactly been the best in that department in his time with Catalans.

You cant possibly say that about Todd Carney. He hasn't shown anything since arriving in Super League that would make me think he was anywhere near the best halfback in Super League. If he was as good now as he was 5 years ago then yes, but certainly not now, unless something changes in him due to his move to Salford.

We didn't continue with Achurch, we honoured his contract.

Yep, Todd Carney's been dreadful in every game i've seen him play since moving to SL.

| I would also say we are lacking in the Prop and Loose Forward departments.
We do not have one good, or even specialist Loose Forward.

Does anyone really these days. Maybe Westerman at Warrington and Bird at Catalan? Most go for extra prop, workhorse back row types.
Having said that I'd like to see Ward or Sutty get a long term go at 13, they could really make it their own.

The ball playing loose forward will return, its just a matter of time, the trend for the extra prop, (which possibly started with Bailey there) will pass. ward is defo a classic loose, and Sutcliffe is possiblely in that mold as well, he certainly looking less like a stand off.
