We need to realise that whilst we seem to be employing the marquee signing option we still have to live within our means. Taupau is one thing but Klemmer is 25 next season and one of the first names on the NSW/Aus teamsheet i bet. Not to mention the rumoured $4mil + offer from the Knights. We simply cant compete. Merrin is much more within our means.

He’s a legend, we need that kind of player to give us a bit of mongrel that’s missing at the moment. Our pack is soft by comparison to what we’ve had before.

We’ve won so many trophies, and I understand how lucky I’ve been to see this, but one of my proudest moments was when the RFL wrote to us to ask if we could stop tackling so hard because the opponents were complaining about us.

Weve been spoilt. Im a child of SL, dont remember much from before the mid-90's, and extremely lucky to have experienced what we have achieved. My 2 little boys havent been to a final we havent won. I tell them how lucky they are.

I understand peoples frustrations and maybe the transition from the golden gen couldve been done better but its unprecedented and Im willing to be patient and see where the next 10-20yrs takes us.

Dead right. No NSW or Queensland hopeful is going to come to SL in current financial climate. Pacific Islanders and Kiwis are a better shout in that regard. We just need to be careful; SOL was a major target and pulled up crocked again after 15 mins yesterday. This game takes its toll and anyone late 20s to early 30s is likely to have built up lots of injuries.
