Catalans, Wigan or Hull is a bit of a stretch for but we only need 1 of the 3 to go on a bad losing run to catch them. Salford, Wakey and Cas are now looking very close, we just need to get ahead of those and 1 other.

I was thinking more of 2017 though - we had some new bodies in after losing Sinny, JP and Kylie in 2015 but didn't really follow it through. We got to 2017 and possibly as we picked up (very) well mid-season we didn't recruit further even though we knew we were losing Mags and Robbie Burrow, and as a consequence we are where we are. It would be boring if we won every year though...

Lolohia was a bad egg, and without thenskills or quality to back it up. No idea on parcel. One of the bad eggs is now captain but had the quality and maybe the responsibility has changed them

Merrin isnt a bad egg imo i know he's told a few home truths that some didnt like but never being diva like or given it big licks.
Of course i dont doubt some will have had their noses pushed out of joint due to him & Konny coming in on big money but thats by the by.
His performances & watching those around him is saying otherwise as well.

It would be great to make the top 5 as we are building a group that can give anyone a game if we are on ours.

We need results to go for us though so more important for me is we keep this mentum we are building, keep the team spirit we are building and finish in a consistent way to set up a more positive pre season and kick on from there.

Think uf we can get up to 7th or even 6th i would be happy felt that's where we would be at start of season so to get to that level after the abysmal start to the season would put us in good shape for next year. 7th should be in our grasp 6th kind if depends in others losing more.

just had a look on skybet and Leeds to finish in the top 5 has dropped from 14/1 to 2/1 do the bookies know something we don't.

Top 5 - I dunno, may be possible. There is only about 1 converted try per game points difference between Hull and us, I've never seen such a tight grouping aside from top 2 and bottom 2.

However the gap between us and Saints is around 23 points per game.

The Leeds squad now is probably closer to Saints than the squad from a few months back, but still.

If we do make the 5, I wouldn't rule anything out because it's all about form and momentum at that stage. We might just have Ward back in the squad again by then too which would give us a boost.

For me I'd never look a title in the mouth... but if we finish 5th I wouldn't want to see the steam taken from our rebuild efforts.

We look like a mid-table side with the changes over the last month or so, but IMO the next 2-3 recruitment decisions will decide whether we're truly competitive again.

Funny thing is some of the same people in this thread are now commenting on us getting relegated just a week later lol.

Some peoples views are as consistent as the teams performances.

But there is a very fine line between bottom of the league and 5th place this year. There’s 8 points between 5th and 12th place. For comparison there’s 10 points between 1st and 2nd place.

The way we played against Cas is good enough for the top 5.

The way we played against Hull kr is bad enough to be relegated.
