| After some of the drubbings we've taken recently, a win of any kind, against anyone is all that really matters.

That shows how far we have fallen - truly a very sad situation

| Quote: "]'" ]Totally agree it was an awful game not helped by the weather or inept officiating.
That said, defensively we were the best we have been all season so it looks as though something on the training ground is being translated to match day. I thought the forwards worked really hard in particular.
On the negative we continue to drop ball and complete far too few sets. We also look poor near the opposition line.
Still, it's a win and a niling so it automatically ranks in the top 5 performances this season

| Fantastic game of utter garbage by both sides
I've seen some games in the 80's which I assumed would never be overtaken in that regard but last night was a watershed in more ways than one.
To the fans who stayed to the bitter end, I salute you.
The club do not deserve the loyalty and support shown by the fans. They'll take anything positive right now. Even that which was served up last night.
I'm sure GH is relieved that he can continue to extract revenue from them.
For the time being anyway.

| Jeff - we are all suckers - GH must laughing his nuts off - that is until he tries to sell season tickets for the Championship with King Brian riding through Headingley on the shoulders of our Spanish resident.

If what was served up last night is considered [i'much improved'[/i by the usual sugar-coating suspects in here, then I cannot even begin to imagine what has been served on previous occasions this season.
There were several fixtures last week in the NRL which were played in atrocious conditions. Roosters V Tigers was played in conditions of torrential downpour throughout. Neither of those two struggling NRL sides served up the level of mistake-ridden slapstick that Leeds and Salford did last night.

And the point is?
It just further demonstrates how far Leeds have fallen.....the standards in SL are shiite and there has being a distinct levelling down even further this season....with Leeds plummeting off the end of a bloody steep cliff !!
Thank fukk standards are soo low are Leeds' points difference could have been on the record books for centuries if not eternity

| Just glad to win a match, The team seemed committed on defence for a change and I appreciated the effort.
Plus, as extra entertainment, we had the most comedy ref I've seen in years.

..and yet McDermott claimed they have been working on and committed to defence these last ...how many weeks??? If it was 'for a change' does that mean McDermott, GH and the club have been taking the proverbial p**s all this time?

| What do people want? They lose and leak tries and they hammered for it. They work hard, tighten up and nil a team and get hammered for it.
Forget what happened last season or even before that, its gone.
People wanted effort and commitment and the players gave it.
I know fans are fickle but hell, give a bit of credit.

Why do we need to give a bit of credit and be grateful for what should be a minimum expectation....and should have been many weeks ago?
The issue is that for many weeks the plea from the management from a persistently losing team was that the lads were putting it this same said 'effort and committment' ...so were they.....or was that a lie?

Do you honestly belief that as professional athletes and more generally as human beings they were consciously turning up to 'work' to give less than their best? Of course not, everyone tries their best.
Sometimes it's good enough, sometimes not. They are a team low on confidence. Last night they got a couple of breaks and coupled with a good defence got the win.
To suggest they aren't giving their best at any point is juvenile.

You stated 'what do people want' and this time they gave 'effort and commitment'...!!!
Obviously you're one of the ones easily pleased.
I'm sure your devoted, unwavering support is far from juvenile and will be recognised and rewarded.

| I'm with Fallon on this.
I have been BMD's biggest critic (well, one of them - there's plenty of competition!) & continue to question whether he can coach a team that is not liberally spread with international leaders & game-changers.
But, come on, we have all been citing the lack of defensive desire &/or structure for some weeks. That was evident last night.
Sure, if we had been playing a better side (& in dry conditions), we probably wouldn't have won. But we weren't. I am, like Fallon & others, quite frankly happy that there appears to be much more commitment & a little more organisation. Hopefully, we can build on this.
One thing - McGuire appears to be so far out of form (I know he hasn't been the only one) since his return & this is exacerbating our problem of lack of ideas in the opposition 20.
