At least Wigan will apparently struggle in the goal kicking department .... At least for the first part of the season. Maybe they will similarly suffer the poison chalice of the WCC too.'"
Maybe the rugby gods have punished them.

| Wigan are very disciplined and have learnt to be patient and take their chances.
They do this extremely well. Other teams need to work in this in the off season. If they don't then they will only have themselves to blame if Wigan do it even better next season.
Hopefully Leeds will get some of this with the changes in coaching staff.

But it get's said everytime a team wins a title who hasn't won one in a while. Gnerally when teams win titles, they have their sh*t together, they have good young players coming through a great coach and good overseas players and older heads.
So it's always easy to look at them and say that they'll dominate. But in the current climate it's very hard just to retain the title, let alone dominate.
But it won't be long before maguire get's a head coaches offer in the nrl, and then what about all their young players who will be able to command higher wages with the success and rep honours they will/are achieving and other clubs come in with better offers?
They could lose next years grand final, then maguire leaves to the nrl and 1 or 2 of their decent players get better offers elsewhere, throw in a poor overseas signing and suddenly they're 5th in the table with only a single grand final win in what was supposed to be a new super dynasty. See? I'm not suggesting that will happen, they'll probs be in the grand final mix for the next 3 or 4 years, but i'm just pointing out how things can change and evolve in sport and not always for the better, which is why it's short sighted to claim a team is about to dominate.

It doesn't matter how you win a grand final though.
But if you take last night, after the first 20 minutes, saints won the next 60 minutes 10-6!!
It's what wigan have done soo many times this season. Blitz teams in the first quarter, get a winning lead, then see the game out with defensive discipline (although many times teams have fought back).
Unfortunatly saints didn't have the firepower to do so without pryce and eastmond, but there were certainly chances and at 16-6 if saints could have scored it'd have been well on.
I think over the off season teams will try and find ways to counter wigans tactics and i think they'll find things tougher next season. With wigan not as dominant, and a hopefully fresher hungrier leeds team I wouldn't be at all suprised to see us de-throning them at old trafford.

Agreed. I wasn't convinced by Leeds either circa 2007-2009 as Saints were their usual selves in those Grand Finals.

I doubt it. Given Wigan's forward domination last week McGuire wouldn't have made an ounce of difference, just like he didn't make an ounce of difference given Warrington's forward domination in the CC Final.

| Wigan are worthy champions this year.
They're fit and tenacious in defence. MaGuire is clearly a very good coach. They smother teams as they did to Saints and us last last week.
Then on the back of that they have that little sheeeyite Tomkins. I said early on he was a bit of a one trick pony but I was wrong. He's a very special talent. Very special indeed.

| Quote: Keith Swiftcorn "I'd expect Wigan to wear their Champions Crown next season with an air of supreme professionalism and distinction. I don't expect them to tarnish the game with the kind of odious brand of indisciplined and unprofessional behaviour we've witnessed from the previous champions who spent their entire 2010 season whinging and whining and hoping misfortune and injury crises afflicted other teams with great vengeance, in order to offset and mask their very own deficiencies, p[ii[/isspoor performances and results.
Hearty congratulations to worthy champions Wigan in 2010 for raising the bar and setting the requisite standards of performance and behaviour.
Message to Leeds
Keith Swifcorn please take a bow
In Wigan we call this the 'Wigan way', we win but do it in style, within the rule book upkeeping sportsmanship and discipline.

They beat an awful saints tonight.
i wasn't convinced at all.'"
It's all about being there, Saints were good enough to get there, but not good enough to win it - we didn't let them play.
Quote: jdrocket "not so sure about that. They looked anything but world beaters in the 2 games against us and we're lacking alot of form and some spark out wide. we nearly put 2 over on them. They're well drilled and well disciplined I'll give you that. But lets not read too much into what they did against saints, who were their usual selves in finals.'"
You must be joking, and who claimed we are world beaters, certainly not us, one step at a time picking you off as we go along, Leeds last week...Hammered! (but for a dodgy VR it would have been nilled too) Saints yesterday, Hammered!
Quote: jdrocket "A team nicknamed the pies cant even cook a decent pie in their stadium!
Still congratulations to them, for being champions!'"
I'm sorry I can only apologise for this, they really are shameful - comes from the stadium owner also owning a crappy pie firm - if it's any consolation most of us don't eat them either - wouldn't give 'em to my dog (if I had one)
....and where are BatesyLUFC (still laughing???) and Dave65 who hasn't been seen on our site since Donna showed him the way out
roll on 2011

| Totally deserved win by Wigan. Best team by some distance this season.
As for Saints, very far removed from the 'undefeatable in a GF' team we were told about by fans of the entertainers in the run up to the 2007 final. They certainly are entertaining
