I think it's clear that Leeds' future lies with its own domestic youth development. Sinfield has moved to address this I think (Agar and some of the other structural changes). You just need to get the balance right so that young lads are coming in with support and quality around them, without the whole pressure of the future of the club bearing down on them in debut seasons. Honestly I think we need some more South Sea Island power in the pack. I wonder even if a short-term 1-year deal could be struck for a couple of players who might otherwise be playing Intrust, but would benefit from getting out of their comfort zone at home.

I think Fensom might be a fallback option, ironically much like Falloon was when we couldn't get Fensom a few years back.

Neither of whom are bad players, but its their application and commitment tends to be lacking.

Getting rid of Garbutt, Cuthbertson, Parcell and Golding and keeping the likes of Ferres, Sutcliffe, Ablett, JJB is beyond logic.
Yes Garbutt has spent half the season out but he still out performs what we have left.
Parcell might have had a bad season by his high standards but again offers more over 70/80 minutes than Dwyer who I like as an impact hooker.
Cuthbertson again similar to Parcell has not performed well this year but he has not played to his strengths due to injuries and a lack of go forward from anyone else.
Golding I feel sorry for as yes I`m a fan of his and still think he has plenty to offer but feel it harsh he is going to be shown the door when we have a few donkeys seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order.
It strikes me there`s a bit of all mates together going on here as opposed to who performs on the day.

I think we've got to have some faith that Sinfield knows what he's doing. We don't get to see the players' attitudes or behaviours behind the scenes.

I've always rated Garbutt, but there is a serious question over his fitness.

Parcell has been consistently linked to a move back to NRL; he is a good player but I can see why he's not playing first grade over there.

Golding simply has been unlucky that Walker came through at the same time, and although it's marginal I believe Walker is the better prospect.

Sutcliffe is going to struggle to get a start this year, but he does offer cover for various positions. Ablett and JJB may still have something to offer if spelled and managed. Ferres has 1 more year to show something and prove his fitness.
I just don't think Cuthbertson is a prop, I think he's more of a loose forward.
I really hope Ward has a relatively injury-free year, he could be key to our 2019 season.

Here's one for you. SMTMUK announced last night he had just done a deal with Cas. A big deal and more to be discussed on next weeks show. Would Golding to Cas be a crazy idea? They need a fullback don't they?

With SMTMUK stating he'd had a young player in tears recently after been told he can go elsewhere despite having 2/3 yrs left on contract and speculation that said player is Golding could this be a possibility?

Not sure whether Golding would count as a big deal; but I can believe he would have been upset over the news from Leeds. I really hope the lad gets something decent sorted as he does have lots to offer.

Big deal? It was Junior Sau he was on about. Hardly big that.

When did Golding go with SMTMUK by the way? I dont think he was with them when he signed his Rhinos deal.

Golding is managed by SMTMUK and pretty sure he was when he signed the 5yr deal. So just thought id speculate.

If its Sau then fair enough.

I am surprised at Sinfield letting Golding go as he can cover several positions has good rugby skills and is still developing. He was one of the few that could not be faulted this season for a lack of effort and has a never say die attitude. This sends a very bad message to other juniors on the verge of the first team.

To let Parcell go is also a strange decision and together with Golding only makes sense if we have a top line hooker lined up. I guess we plan to use Lolohea as cover at full back (as Walker gets injured frequently) which will allow McLelland some game time at half back. He can also cover for hooker but a couple of injuries to key positions and we are back in the same mess again.

Sutcliffe can cover several positions but Golding is a better fullback and also provides cover at hooker - two key positions, so I would keep Golding and let Sutcliffe go.

As for Garbutt he obviously has a weight and fitness problem and maybe there is a better prop lined up too.

The good news is that Peteru had the best average metres per carry of our props albeit in far fewer appearances with Crosby second both ahead of Garbutt.
