| Quote sgtwilko="sgtwilko"I have to agree with many on here, from the outside looking in letting Garbutt and Parcell go would seem crazy considering Ferres’ performances over 3 years and efforts from Sutcliffe, Ablett and Cuthbo being well short of what’s needed, and a special mention for Stevie Ward! You can be the best player in the world but if you spend more time in the treatment room than on the field you are dead wood and a waste of cap space.'"
Mitch Garbutt has played a total of 84 first grade games since 2013
Stevie Ward has played 129 since 2012 (bearing in mind he didn’t preally play in 2016)
If spending more time on the treatment room is a criteria for getting rid Garbutt would be high on the list

Those stats are thoroughly depressing. They’re probably our best forwards, in fact, not probably they are, by a large distance.

| Didn’t Mitch garbutt join 2/3s way through 2015?
Or are you counting his nrl appearances in that stat too where he didn’t really break into a team? Guess it makes your point look stronger.
I think he’s made 72 appearances for Leeds in 3 and a half seasons. Averaging roughly 20 games a season

| I'll go down St Michael's Lane and launch a dirty protest if we let Garbutt go. He's been by far our best forward since Peacock retired, even if he has been injury prone. He's relatively young and we looked so much worse once he was done for the season.
I don't think I can imagine anything which would make me more angry on the playing front given who we are apparently keeping.

And Wards average games are similar including a year off with an injury that could happen to any player at any time.
Both however spent too much time off the field last year, not that Id want rid of either

What if getting rid meant we got Taupau?

I would love Tapau but without Garbutt our prop rotation looks awful.none of them are quality top 4 level props as it stands (oledzki will be in time). If we go down this route then i hope there are irons in the fire to address the front row too because if there isn't we will struggle to go forward again.

My point is us signing Taupau is as much as a rumour as us getting rid of Garbutt, too many ifs and buts to make any informed opinion on anything at the moment (i do appreciate that uninformed opinions are the backbone of forums though)

| I have no idea which players will stay/go, but Sinfield was clearly angry and disappointed by some things such as the utter drivel vs Toronto (in what should have at least been a nice easy win to end the season on a slight positive) and the general lack of upturn following his arrival. None of us should be surprised if he decided some players in the current squad need to be shunted, even if that causes short-term issues with the overall team strength. Some of the senior players being shunted or even rumoured to be may be partly to shake the entire place up - making it clear mediocrity has to stop.
One thing we'll probably never know but in a few years I'd like to hear McDermott's view on what has happened over the last couple of seasons. Clearly by the actions being taken a lot of blame is being pointed at him without the club having to say anything.

As pointed out garbutt joined halfway through 2015. The biggest issue Garbutt is our best meter making prop by a mile.

| Maybe, just maybe it’s a play towards “no player is bigger than the club” and giving a kick up the backside to some of our senior blokes who frankly phoned in the last half of the season. You don’t perform, you don’t try, you don’t get with the new program then you are gone.
I’m interested to see what the new backroom team can achieve with these players. A fit Mitch “hairy fridge” Garbutt, a focussed Mulally etc, could be like 2/3 new signings.

| I dunno - I get the impression Leeds are struggling in the transfer market. We’re an easy way for agents to enhance deals in the NRL with their clients. Even for players to whom money isn’t everything, Leeds still have to be competitive on salaries and SL is way behind the NRL. Fensom is a bit of a Delaney, broken every sinew in his body. Maybe we need to take a risk on a couple of boom prospects from NRL who aren’t yet proven.
