But, and i alluded to this in the Academy thread, there is a wave flowing through the club at the moment, of taking too much pride and too many positives from defeat. Regardless of anything, players and coaches should be looking at any defeat as a very bad day at the office...Im not seeing that mindset around the club.
A winning mentality or desire to win is just as important as talent'"
What from the club, coach and players is giving you the impression that they're buzzing over defeats?

| Quote: kjrhino "I thought the ref allowed saints to slow the ruck which did kill us in the 2nd half. We also lost some line speed in D. They had quicker rucks which allowed them to play with structure.
I guess either saints are much quicker of the line or we are slower. Who knows.
Agreed that the first 30 was as good as we have played in the last few years. Just need more of it for longer.
Plus I think we need a bit of structure in plays. Can’t do off the cuff for 80 mins. Still lacking a wrecking ball. As good as lisone is in his 10 min spells, would like a bit more for longer.
I still think MoM and Fraeley will turn out to be duds. The former is unfortunately a downgrade on Nene.'"
Totally disagree on Momirosvki, he is a different style of player to Nene.
You don’t play in the teams he has by being a dud, he won’t be the explosive runner that nene is but he is a clever RL with great defensive awareness, it’s no coincidence that Ash is having his best ever season playing next to him.
Nene macdonald is a great player but he’s unreliable and has left every club under a cloud, a lot of the rebuild is about culture and a player like momirosvki os a key part to that , same as Frawley to be honest.

| At an athlete Nene should still be in NRL, he’s a bit of a freak. Attitude- wise he is all over the place, although comes across as a nice enough guy. There is a reason he is over here.
Mom will be fine I think; I’d like to see Frawley’s kicking game improve though, he’s put us under pressure several times.
I want to see more games, and games in decent conditions, to really assess where we are. It looks like we are short of a winger and a big middle unit still. Fus leaving should enable us to sort the wing out. Middle might depend on whether Martin stays or not. He is having a good season again so far.

We can't not get either, Jim. That would be criminal.

| We should have room for both, and if Martin does leave, we need another back rower but a different type to our other back rowers.

It’s not gonna happen I’m afraid. He’s 29 and you’re not gonna see any improvement in a fella that age. That kick out on the full was as bad as it gets Friday, pretty amateurish. For me we’ve signed someone just to fill a shirt, we’d have been better off keeping Sezer from what I’ve seen. You’ve got to question the wisdom in signing a player who has been deemed not good enough to play first grade for most of his career.

Too right, let’s write him off after 5 games and one mistake.
Sezer had about 3 good games in two years.
He’s played 75 first grade games by the way

You'd assume with Myler,Olpherts gone and Donaldson + fusitua going we can afford what we need. More if Martin chooses to leave.
If we aren't already looking at a short list fir prop and wing then we aren't being prepared

| Frawley made some poor moves but hardly alone in that.
Hes no world beater but I think given how little Sezar offered and how much will have been used to pay/ sign Croft, Ackers, Miller, Mom and upgrade Newman etc it's not surprising.
By the end of his deal Sinfield etc will hopefully be looking more prepared to take over

Part of Frawleys remit will be to mentor Sinfield, Apparently Frawley is really good at that and is predicted to be a decent head coach in the future.

70 odd games in his whole career, and 22 of those at Huddersfield. I’m sure we all remember that memorable stint. He’s hardly played the last 4 years at Canberra and he’s only made 50 odd NRL appearances in his whole career. Unless you’re a politician you’re not gonna massage those figures and tell me he’s had a solid career. Contrast his figures with Sezer’s and we can all see who the Aussie clubs rated.

I hope to be proved wrong on both players. I don’t think Momirosvki has played much of a part in Handleys tries. Maybe one where he passed to him.
There is still some chaff to be cut from the squad, and I think we are still 3 quality players short of a great side. A back and 2 forwards. Defo missing a quality replacement/ backup for Fusitua and a couple of hard running forwards.
I know as the pitches form up we should get better but you have to be good in all weathers.

Better off keeping Sezer? Dear me. Frawley's doing OK for my money. He's doing practically all the field kicking and could probably do with a little help in that regard from the likes if Miller and Croft, just to make it less predictable for the chasers. His distribution is smooth (markedly better than either Austin or Sezer's) and he's been quietly effective at taking on the line. The try against Leigh was very good. I'm certainly not going to stick the boot in him after 5 games, especially considering what went before.
