Quote: Maximillion "Not running around in SL, Your lack of game / RL intelligence is astounding for someone that seems to be heavily involved, even from your armchair.... salary capped sport, means you need to build value in depth of your squad or you will end up in the bottom 4 after a handful of injuries.

Keinhorst was and will be a solid SL player, I think he will go well at KR, week in week out, able to build partnership with his wingers, something that he worked well with Hall on many occasions.

Runciman I would say is not as good as Keinhorst, but he could add depth at a decent price if and when needed, this is not fantasty RL, it is actually putting together squad of 25 under the cap that includes some star players, but mostly a solid team that are committed, fit, healthy and play to a team structure. Team play and structure as well as getting the best out of depth players has to be the focus.

Newman, would bring him in for a few games for sure, at Centre, looks raw but has some speed and commitment.'"

You talk nonsense. Keinhorst and Runciman have been shown up for the level they are, both very poor. Remember we were in the bottomr four because of having to play the likes of Keinhorst, and others of similar ilk. Were you asleep this season?

Newman I agree with you you on, and even now looks way ahead of those other two.

With Newman us as fans have to realuse he will make mistakes though and not write him off if he doesn’t instantly shine, he has a lot of class about him and I hope he plays more of a part next year

I'll be honest I'm still to be convinced by our halves for next year. A Tongan whose not played first grade for months, an untried 18yr old and Myler, who despite been our player of the year (not saying much) hasn't really impressed me.

If we fix the pack deficiencies,it will give Myler the opportunity to shine.Hell,Thurston would have struggled with what was served up this last few months.Beef up the forwards, and we should be back to a top 6 side.

We can agree to disagree, I think Keinhorst barring injuries should easily hit double figure tries next season, his strike rate was 1 in 3 for Leeds, not bad, also on Runciman, I am not saying these are the types of players that win you a GF, but you need them in your squad at some depth level, even though Newman should develop and take that spot, it's not happening overnight. Pack needs the most investment, a big prop and SR (Ward at 13 barring injury) and then a solid winger, but does not have to be a superstar.

Again what you may be missing the mark on is the salary cap, hence the need to sprinkle some depth, you cannot have 7-8 superstars and u19s filling in, you need to pay for a layer of good (SL avg), not great players to add to the mix, because you cannot just buy the best in every position.

On the season, Leeds looked flat 70% of the time, fitness looked like an issue adding to the injuries to key players

Myler was excellent for at least half the season, despite a poor and depleted pack, carrying a “half back partner”, playing with a poor, unfit and out of form team, a team with no evidence of any structure etc. It’s probably been the worst team he’s ever been part of and yet he’s still achieved a decent amount of assists.

I’ve absolutely no concerns about him whatsoever.

It's ridiculous to say Keinhorst isn't Super League standard he's in the main done an excellent job for Leeds when called upon as back up.

Sure he's never going to be a star but he's a very solid and reliable squad man that every team requires. He has never once let Leeds down and I wish him all the best at KRnt.

Tim Sheena must see something he likes in him.

Don't know much about him but a highlights package on a certain video streaming website makes him look like a real strong runner. I think we said the same about Mitch Achurch though... icon_wink.gif

Looks like he's more of a centre than a winger, though. Be interesting to see where he will play. If we do go with him as centre, barring another signing in the backs, we'll be going with a mixture of Handley and L Briscoe on the wing?

I could live with that if it means we spend the remaining SC money on the forwards. 1 prop and 2 back rowers please...

He's let us down loads of times Marty, not sure why you have missed that. He has missed more tackles for a start than your bang average centre does. He misses lots. He makes very little yardage in collission, and is just not going to be anything more. He is an hard worker who puts his body on the line, but with no ability to supplement that. The bit you have missed here on what I said, and what Maximillion has due to an infatuation with the player, is that nobody is arguing about squad players and people who fill in when an injury, we all know everyteam has those. The comment was that they should not be running around Super League as starting super league players. We have plenty of squad fillers.

Runciman was an overseas recruit for Widnes, one of their star signings, why? Keinhorst is leaving Leeds because he thinks he is better than squad player and wants more game time. These are not the squad fillers you are both talking about, they are looking for more, and I maintain they are not up to that. Super League needs to striving to encourage much better players in the league, and use that squad filler role with better prospects.

I wasn't trying to have a dig at Keinhorst, not in anyway, which is why I was grouping him with similar ilk, that for me just do not cut it. Had Hull KR still had Minns to call on, they wouldn't be looking at Keinhorst.

The lack of a decent playmaker cost us so many matches this year but we have signed a runner as the new 6. So even with a better pack why will we make better decisions on the fifth tackle next season?

I see what your getting at, that we haven't really added to the "brains" in the team with the signings we've made. I think that even though Lolohea is primarily a runner, he can't be a worse game manager than Moon was. If we can get on the front foot in the forwards, then Myler (and I'd hope Ward given his background as a stand off rather than as a battering ram) would be able to step up and lead us around the park from 13 as a ball player with better structure around him.

I think Furner will give us much more structure, and that will help to manage games, but of course we will need the players to step up.

You are forgetting Smith here. He has been used entirely wrongly up to now, and it will be up to Furner how he goes going forward. But that lad has one hell of a rugby brain on him. Why it was coached out of him I will never know.

I'm not forgetting him, I just think that for the next year or two, he should be a bench player (getting lots of regular game time) so that he can develop in a managed way rather than thrown into a cauldron should next year not start well.

My son played against him plenty when they were kids, I know his potential.
