| Quote rollin thunder="rollin thunder"Back in the old days, often young centres or even halves would be given a season or so to blend in learn their trade on the wing. This was no bad thing and sometimes looking back at things, sometimes is a good idea. Definitely think Newman would benefit having some game time on the wing, Learning to play centre at open age level alongside a class centre.'"
I really really disagree with this. His qualities and strengths are very much more suitable for playing centre than wing and he won't improve if he's stuck out on the flank. I'm a Fev fan so obviously I'd be happy to see him play for us next season, but either way he needs to be playing centre - if he's ready for SL then play him in his natural position for Leeds.
Yesterday at Fev was a good example of how he needs more development time at centre, he was playing outside Ridyard on the left hand side and ran the wrong angle on at least one occasion in the first half, the coaching staff had a word with him in the second half and he ran riot, scoring two and creating one; one of his tries came when he ran a superb angle off a bullet pass from Ridyard, he will learn much more playing outside Ridyard next season than being shunted on to the wing.
We've seen lots of Luke Briscoe and Newman at Fev this season and whilst I know plenty of Leeds fans don't rate Luke he's a miles better wing than Newman would be - he's faster, a stronger finisher in the corner, and can do the hard yardage from dummy half. Newman, on the other hand, is already a better centre than Briscoe, if that makes sense, his balance and ability to spot a gap are high quality. He just needs more experience, especially in defence, at his specialist position.

| Agree with the poster above, unless we are struggling for wingers due to injuries Newman shouldn’t play wing. When he plays 1st team next season it should be in the centre.

Not running around in SL, Your lack of game / RL intelligence is astounding for someone that seems to be heavily involved, even from your armchair.... salary capped sport, means you need to build value in depth of your squad or you will end up in the bottom 4 after a handful of injuries.
Keinhorst was and will be a solid SL player, I think he will go well at KR, week in week out, able to build partnership with his wingers, something that he worked well with Hall on many occasions.
Runciman I would say is not as good as Keinhorst, but he could add depth at a decent price if and when needed, this is not fantasty RL, it is actually putting together squad of 25 under the cap that includes some star players, but mostly a solid team that are committed, fit, healthy and play to a team structure. Team play and structure as well as getting the best out of depth players has to be the focus.
Newman, would bring him in for a few games for sure, at , looks raw but has some speed and commitment.

You talk nonsense. Keinhorst and Runciman have been shown up for the level they are, both very poor. Remember we were in the bottomr four because of having to play the likes of Keinhorst, and others of similar ilk. Were you asleep this season?
Newman I agree with you you on, and even now looks way ahead of those other two.

With Newman us as fans have to realuse he will make mistakes though and not write him off if he doesn’t instantly shine, he has a lot of class about him and I hope he plays more of a part next year

| I'll be honest I'm still to be convinced by our halves for next year. A Tongan whose not played first grade for months, an untried 18yr old and Myler, who despite been our player of the year (not saying much) hasn't really impressed me.

| If we fix the pack deficiencies,it will give Myler the opportunity to shine.Hell,Thurston would have struggled with what was served up this last few months.Beef up the forwards, and we should be back to a top 6 side.

We can agree to disagree, I think Keinhorst barring injuries should easily hit double figure tries next season, his strike rate was 1 in 3 for Leeds, not bad, also on Runciman, I am not saying these are the types of players that win you a GF, but you need them in your squad at some depth level, even though Newman should develop and take that spot, it's not happening overnight. Pack needs the most investment, a big prop and SR (Ward at 13 barring injury) and then a solid winger, but does not have to be a superstar.
Again what you may be missing the mark on is the salary cap, hence the need to sprinkle some depth, you cannot have 7-8 superstars and u19s filling in, you need to pay for a layer of good (SL avg), not great players to add to the mix, because you cannot just buy the best in every position.
On the season, Leeds looked flat 70% of the time, fitness looked like an issue adding to the injuries to key players

| Myler was excellent for at least half the season, despite a poor and depleted pack, carrying a “half back partner”, playing with a poor, unfit and out of form team, a team with no evidence of any structure etc. It’s probably been the worst team he’s ever been part of and yet he’s still achieved a decent amount of assists.
I’ve absolutely no concerns about him whatsoever.

| It's ridiculous to say Keinhorst isn't Super League standard he's in the main done an excellent job for Leeds when called upon as back up.
Sure he's never going to be a star but he's a very solid and reliable squad man that every team requires. He has never once let Leeds down and I wish him all the best at KRnt.
Tim Sheena must see something he likes in him.

Don't know much about him but a highlights package on a certain video streaming website makes him look like a real strong runner. I think we said the same about Mitch Achurch though...
Looks like he's more of a centre than a winger, though. Be interesting to see where he will play. If we do go with him as centre, barring another signing in the backs, we'll be going with a mixture of Handley and L Briscoe on the wing?
