| FFS its Rugby League!
10 years ago it wouldn't have even been a yellow, just defending his teammate
It used to be expected in international games, now it seems even English fans think punching an aussie player (whos actually a NZ traitor) is worth a ban

It's more of this gooey eyed NRL obsession I'm afraid.
Imagine if you will Garbutt gets up and gives a girly slap to a Cowboy player and then another Cowboy player knocks him on his backside.
People would be lining up on here to say Garbutt deserved it and appalling the NQC player.

For all of you backing Garbutt's actions last night, here's what his coach thought of it:
www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/s ... -1-7742273
By all means applaud his previous efforts in the game but nobody should be condoning that punch.
All that has done is to deprive his team mates of his presence in a few upcoming games when he'll be sitting in the stands.

| For me it was the best punch I've seen in a professional game since Mason floored Fielden, that was 10 years ago.
He should be given a few games punishment, and rightly so, but it lays down a bit of a marker for others who may think about getting on Garbuts wrong side

Well he's hardly going to come out and praise him is he, FFS.
Another day, another none story for the perennially outraged of the internet to show their disgust at.

| Was it me of was Barrie saying there's no place for that in RL. I'm pretty sure it was tongue in cheek, or the irony police would be after him

| I do not condone the punch; however, if you look at Tamu's left hand in the tackle he appears to grab Galloways beard. This is further backed up when Galloway stands and puts his hand up to that area on his face. There was probably words spoken at the PTB, Tamu lashes out. Garbutt finishes it.
I really think there was an element of beard pulling in there

| I thought it was a cracking punch! It's rugby league not tiddly winks, lots of faux outrage about it. Used to be commonplace in the game, he will cop a ban but won't be that long. He's a forward it's a combative sport, I don't see this level of outrage at State of Origin matches.

| A lot of sanctimonious OTT comment going on. Yes it was wrong and he will have to pay the penalty but put it in perspective please. Tamou was the first to assault Galloway's face, which from where Garbutt was standing may have looked like a punch, and his reaction was to go to the aid of a teammate which not so long ago would have been applauded. While not trying to justify the punch it was an understandable response.

| The NQC player was also reacting to something that happened on the ground in the tackle. I've no idea who started it but I've got a better idea who ended it and Leeds were awarded the penalty.
McDermott's only grievance will be Garbutt made a better job of flattening the Cowboy's man mountain than he made of the ex Cowboy's winger in the semi final in Huddersfield.

| Tamou gave it big licks with a b!tch slap Garbutt finished it simple as even the NQC's Coach took the p!ss out of Tamou " Well his nose is even wider now"!
Garbutt will rightly get a ban we move on as for the rest of the trolling sh##e on here it was nowhere near as bad as Flowers actions which were sh##-house in the extreme jog on.

Absolutely - I posted something on the VT similar... '1 in, all in'... I'd be disappointed if our props stood by and simply watched....
As a rugby league player, you know if you get yourself invoved in any altercation, that you can expect the opposition piling in swinging. Tamou wanted some, and got some... He'll have no complaints - it's just what happens.... Have a dig, get some back - he just happened to be on the rceiving end of a belter....
Garbutt was punished accordingly and will now rightly face the disciplinary panel (I just hope they don't have a ridiculous over the top reaction with the ban) - but for me, I'm more than happy with what he did. Puts a marker down to all other teams that if you get up close and personal with our boys, there'll be a price to pay - I bet there won't be many getting up and indulging in a bit of push and shove when he's in the vicinity. I just wish it had been a game against Wigan - they've got some players that have been begging for that type of reaction for a while...
