Jon Bentley might not have been as fast but he certainly made up for it with violence whenever he did get near Offiah.

Except in the game where Deakin gets pilloried because Offiah scored ten.
IIRC when Deakin was taken off at half time Offiah had only scored four and at least a couple of those had come backing up in the middle of the field. In the second half when Bentley replaced Deakin, Offiah added a further six.

He also did that in the '88 Yorkshire Cup final against Cas and it led almost directly to a try by Miles Boothroyd(?)...
For all his other skills I am happy to let him off having a crap chip and chase...

No need for allegedly after it was determined by a court of law, IIRC.

To satisfy my ailing memory, who did we play on Boxing Day and New Years day in the seasons that ET was guesting for us?

Sounds about right now you mention it.
Still a shame he couldn't have had a lad - would probably be about the right age to fill one of England's troublesome centre spots by now

| ET glided across the pitch like no player I've ever seen. I remember one try he got straight from a scrum near half way. He just ran towards the touchline in a glorious arc, outpacing defenders as he arced back to touchdown beneath the sticks.

| Here's one for the Teev then.
Name every Australian to PLAY for Leeds in the 80's.
(So Peter Sterling doesn't count !)

Should that be glid? Or maybe glode?
If people can say dove instead of dived then why not?
