Yes Garbutt has had his injuries but he has been by far the best prop we had last year.

I've been thinking since it was said on here about Parcell and Garbutt possibly being let go for next season and personally i can only see it happening if we are going to bring in top Quality from Oversea's such as Taupau etc. Because I'd imagine out of all our current oversea's players Parcell and Garbutt are probably the highest earners They will both earn more money than Peteru for definite also Peteru has only had one season with us and the club probably wants to give him a chance to prove he deserves to be in our squad and I also think Parcell will earn more than Cuthbertson and Garbutt will be on same or same abouts as Cuthbertson but with Cuthbertson being so involved with the Women's team this year they'll probably want him around when he's available to coach now and again even if he isn't the head coach for next season, also Cuthbertson signed a 2 year extension so the club obviously wanted him in there plans for next couple of seasons. So realistically if we want to release oversea's players to bring more in who potential will cost more money such as Hurrell and possibly Taupau and maybe more big names it would make sense to offload Parcell and Garbutt out of our current overseas players, i can only see us getting rid of them if we are defiantly bringing more oversea's players in.

We have 2 overseas quota spots but only one non fed trained spot. Lolohea and Hurrell are new so couldn’t be released, Cuthbertson works with the club with the women’s team aswell as signing a new deal, Peteru is one of the reasons Hurrell is joining as he’s one of his best friends. So in theory we only have Garbutt or Parcell we can release to bring in more than one overseas player.

Seems a funny basis for making this monster signing some are alleging. Which serious player is going to hang about waiting while we fanny about waiting for another player to find a gig elsewhere?

Think I'd be keeping Garbutt and Parcell for another year. We can currently sign one more OQ player so that could (in theory) be Taupau. I'd then tell Cuthbertson that he can stay for a final season on the playing staff but after that he'd either be moved on to be coaching the women's team or we'd need to negotiate a release from his final year.

That would leave us looking for at least one English back rower for this season, and have another OQ place in Cuthbertson for next year. In the meantime we need to address the quality of the squad fillers (Mullally, Walters, Ormondroyd, etc.), and get some good back rowers lined up for 2020 when we will finally see the end of Ferres, JJB and Ablett to be back in the hunt for trophies.

Retain Crosby and sign another NRL marquee forward and our squad already looks miles better than this season and that’s assuming there are no more UK players being brought in, which I’m not sure will be the case?

The one NFT spot free should be used to replace the likes of a Walters, Mullalley, Ormondroyd type NOT to replace one of our existing quality players (granted Garbutt needs to play more but I’m hoping he will remain fully fit for most of next season)

Isn’t Hurrell the big signing? Surely a bigger coup than expected before the season just gone.

To be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the rumours are leaked purely for interest in ticket sales, and pushing new South Stand seats.

I was told there was a England player signing also, so who knows that might be a biggy. I don’t want to lose Parcell at all, but you never know, if it was a swap for Hodgson for example, that would be good business.
